We are Meike (43), Lutz (45), Paul (13), and Jette (5), and live together with our two cats in the town of Kleve (Cleves), close to the Netherlands. We started homelink in 2014 and did several great exchanges in Germany and other European countries. What we appreciate most about home exchange is getting in touch with people from different countries and cultures. It is a good feeling to know, that someone lives in our home while we are on holidays.

Beschrijving van het huis dat wij aanbieden voor ruil
We are Meike (43), Lutz (45), Paul (13) and Jette (5). We live in a house in a town called Kleve which is in the lower Rhine region near the Netherlands. Our house has two floors with about 200 square meters. Our home has a big living area, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a working/music space. We have a nice garden with a big patio and a little pond. We have two friendly cats, Lilly and Frieda. They stay at home and need to be taken care of.
We are looking for exchanges during school holidays 2024.
We moved from Dallgow-Döberitz near Berlin to Kleve in North Rhine-Westphalia in the summer of 2023. So please don't be surprised about the entries in our guestbook. Back then, Berlin was only 30 minutes away from our house by train - now it's 6 hours by car.

We have a nice and quiet neighborhood. There a lots of families with small children. In walking distance you can reach two playgrounds, a small park and the wildlife area Döberitzer Heide.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt
Kleve is located on the Lower Rhine, close to the Netherlands. Kleve is the ideal starting point for cycling tours and hikes - through meadows and forests or along the Rhine. Discover a city steeped in history, with the Schwanenburg castle enthroned in its center. Believe it or not, the Tiergarten and Unter den Linden in Berlin were modeled on the historic gardens in Kleve. The legend of Lohengrin once took place on the Schwanenburg and the Kermisdahl.
Kleve is the ideal starting point for day trips to the Netherlands, the Ruhr region or the Rhineland to Düsseldorf (direct rail connection) or Cologne. The possibilities are endless. Whether it's Nijmegen, the oldest city in the Netherlands, Arnhem with Burgers Zoo and an open-air museum, Amsterdam with the Anne Frank House or the Efteling theme park - the trip across the border is definitely worthwhile. On the German side, excursions to the Industrial Park North in Duisburg, Cologne Cathedral, Düsseldorf's old town or Aachen are well worthwhile. In the immediate vicinity of Kleve, you can discover the Museum Schloss Moyland with its large Joseph Beuys exhibition, the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer and the Roman town of Xanten.
The cities of Cologne and Amsterdam are just over 90 minutes away by car.
