There are two large parks nearby: Grey Lynn and Western Springs Parks. You can enjoy walks, the springs, the lake, large trees and picnicking there. The Museum of Transport and Technology is a 15-minute walk away and is a popular attraction for Aucklanders.
Frequently running buses are a flat five-minute walk away from our home and will take you to the city. From there you can shop and enjoy a variety of ethnic cuisines. You will also be in easy walking distance to the Viaduct Harbour and the Wynyard Quarter where there is popular harbourside dining, bars and theatre.
From the city a variety of ferries run to the Hauraki Gulf islands, including Waiheke and Rangitoto Islands.
Local beaches are a 5-minute drive or 15-minute cycle ride away from our home.
The Waitakere Ranges with its many bush walks and the wild west coast beaches of Piha, Muriwai and Te Henga are only a 30-40 min drive. Muriwai boasts one of three mainland gannet colonies in New Zealand.
There are numerous vineyards in the Auckland area open for wine tasting and lunches. Waiheke Island is also home to many fine wine vineyards.
