We are in our early 60s and have lived in this house for well over 30 years. We have 2 daughters who both live nearby in Perranporth with their young children. They are availble for any help and advice. A large number of our family are dyslexic and Sarah (not dyslexic) has been involved for 25 years running the charity Cornwall Dyslexia Association. She is an ex nurse. She makes and collects patchwork quilts and also produces textile art. Trevor is a retired carpenter joiner and also has a degree in archaeology and is mostly to be found doing work on his daughters’ houses! Trevor plays the guitar and sings, and can be found on the last Thursday of every month at the Bolingey Inn open night. Sarah has been disabled for many years and needs to lie down a lot but can walk short distances

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We are a mile from the small friendly town of Perranporth in a very peaceful location. Perranporth has lots of shops of all sorts, so you don't need to go anywhere else. There is a small boating lake in the town and a garden to sit in. You can hire wet suits and surf boards and all sorts of other equipment very easily. There are public swimming pools at Newquay and Truro and on the Truro river you can canoe and sail. Boats can be hired at various places and there are lots of different boat trips.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Perranporth has one of Cornwall’s most popular beaches with lots of golden sand, surf and sand dunes, full with wildlife. It is surrounded by countryside that inspired Winston Graham’s Poldark novels, the busy village has plenty of family eateries serving up traditional food along with many cafes and bars and ice cream parlours. For the more active, there are surf and kite buggy schools on the beach and from the village the coastal footpath provides some great walking. You can walk along the soft sand to Ligger Point two miles way if the tides out and enjoy a gentle stroll back along the dunes which are home to birds and butterflies. You can also follow the coastal path to St Agnes or Newquay. Enjoy golfing at the golf course on the dunes. There are gardens to visit, stately homes, castles and the world renown Eden Project is not far. There are also the old tin mines, a steam railway and Bodmin Moor for hill walking.
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
DUE TO A DISABILITY I CANNOT FLY SO CAN ONLY GO TO PLACES WE CAN DRIVE TO
WE HAVE A HOLIDAY ARRANGED FOR JULY BUT STILL OPEN TO OFFERS AT OTHER TIMES, EXCEPT AUGUST.
We have said children, but our rather elderly cat is a bit scared of loud noises and children running around and would not appreciate this on a full-time basis! Also our garden is not safe for young children. We therefore only want older children who aren't likely to rush about and preferably calm cat lovers! Babies might be okay.
Our cat Tom is self managing really as he has a cat flap and only has biscuits twice a day, no wet cat food. He will no doubt be a bit shy to begin with but if he gets to know you is a very affectionate and friendly cat. Should you wish to go away for a night or two when you are here our neighbour is happy to feed Tom.
We have outside flowers in pots, a flower garden, vegetable plot and poly tunnel which will need watering in dry weather, but can ask our neighbour to do this if you would rather not. Please help yourself to any fruit or vegetables that are ready when you are here.
