  • We loved staying in Jim and Fionnuala’s home

What a fabulous home swap! Jim and Fionnuala’s home is so well equipped (the kitchen in particular) and comfortable. It is also perfectly located for visiting Donegal and Northern Ireland, which were interesting and breathtaking in equal measure. Everyone we met was so welcoming and informative, and we felt thoroughly relaxed after our 2 week holiday. Jim and Fionnuala’s preparations meant that we had oodles of information to be able to plan our days out. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Jane and Ben

  • A very enjoyable exchange in Raphoe!

  • In the heart of Donegal

Our week at Fionnuala and Jim’s in Raphoe was a delight. Their house has been lovingly modernised and decorated, with fine, comfortable reception rooms and cosy bedrooms (two ensuite). It has a bright, airy atrium for playing and listening to music; a well equipped dining kitchen with a big table perfect for family meals. We were treated on arrival to a wonderful home-cooked tagine, and made to feel really welcome. The house is close to the centre of the town. A five minute walk takes you to well-stocked shops or the friendly Friel's hotel where wholesome traditional meals are served. If you enjoy a hot Jameson’s or a pint of Guinness, this is for you (other beverages are available). As we hoped, Raphoe proved a fantastic base from which to explore by car the marvellous landscapes and beaches of Donegal. We loved it.

  • Lovely house in a great location

Lovely house in a great location for visiting Derry, Malin Head & the wonderful scenery in Donegal

  • Maison spacieuse et vraiment confortable. on à passé une semaine très agréable encore merci pour ce fabuleux échange

  • We had a wonderful time in this spacious and beautifully furnished house. Fionnuala had prepared a tasty tagine for us and left us 2 bottles of wine (white and red) to drink it with. Raphoe is a good place to stay and from where to explore the famous Wild Atlantic Way and Northern Irland, especially Co. Derry, the coast and Derry City.We did a lot of driving in order to see as much of the very beautiful conutry and coast as we possible. There was a very good collection of leaflets and advice in the welcome folder to help us decide where to go next. We were very impressed by the Giants Causeway which is a tourist's must see and though the otherwise sunny weather we had all the time in Raphoe, let us down on that day we were there, it was an interesting and worthwhile trip despite of the fog that did not give us a view on the sea. Watching masses of tourists from all over the world climbing over the blocks of granite was also very entertaining. We definitely recommend a visit to the Ulster American Emigration Museum, it is so informative and gives a lively impression of the living conditions in Ireland and in the new country.

  • Wonderfull cosy home in Donegal

We felt very much at home in the house of Jim and Fionualla. After a long drive from Dublin, the welcome meal was a nice touch. You arrive, and you don't have to think about shopping the first day... We had a great time, exploring a bit of everything Donegal and Northern Ireland has to offer. All the detailled information that was provided helped us to put together an interesting programm for daytrips a bit further, or in the immediate surroundings. We loved the walk up to the stone circle, all alone with the sheep and a small dog. And my husband enjoyed the gettogether with musicians in the local pub, a place we would have not entered on first sight. The communication with our hosts was quick and responsive, thanks to their tips we had a great time.

  • We had a wonderful, sunny week in Donegal.

The house in Raphoe is very spacious well equipped . Raphoe is a great central spot for touring around the area and the local people are amazingly friendly and welcoming. The meal that was left was delicious and very welcome after our long journey. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to explore the magnificent Wild Atlantic Way, the Historic Sites and interesting towns. Kate and Rod

  • Fionnuala and Jim are a lovely couple

Raphoe was right in the middle of the all the places we wanted to go to. To the west, Glenveagh National park, the north, Malin Head and the south, Slieve League. Everywhere in Donegal was stunning, the sun shone but it was freezing and the local people were friendly. The food was delicious and a good price. After meeting Fionnuala and Jim at our house, we picked up my aunt and uncle and travelled to Raphoe. There was a delicious casserole left for us, the house was spotless, very spacious and had the most wonderful kitchen with every conceivable device you would ever need! We felt very much at home here. My sister joined us for a few days, so it was a real happy family occasion. It rained heavily the last 2 days, so we lit the fire, listened to music and read our books in the comfortable, cosy lounge. We are very happy with this house exchange, thank you F & J

  • Great place to explore Donegal

The house is in a heritage village in Donegal. Perfect location to explore the Wild Atlantic Way. Donegal is sometimes called 'Forgotten Ireland'. May it remain forgotten because the area is so beautiful and unspoilt.

  • Perfect base for our Donegal break.Thank you.

We really enjoyed staying our stay in Raphoe. Jim and Fionnuala's home was spotless and so easy to feel at home in quickly. It was the perfect base for us.

  • We had a wonderful stay, it was an adventure and we visited lots of places despite the snow ! My first visit to Southern Ireland and lived up to its reputation as being a beautiful country.

  • Fionnuala and Jim were wonderful exchange partners. Due to an unexpected family bereavement they willingly altered their exchange dates to accommodate our changed circumstances. Everything was organised for us when we arrived at their home which is spacious and very comfortable. It is a dream house for music lovers! We enjoyed the prepared dinner and of course the bottle of wine. Raphoe is ideally located for touring the stunning Inishowen peninsula, Derry City and west Donegal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks Fionnuala and Jim.

  • We had a fabulous break

Dear Jim and Fionnuala Your home is extremely comfortable, in a nice town and a great location to explore Donegal and Northern Ireland. It was a great break. Regards Edmond

  • thanks

    lovely home, near fabulous scenery

  • Their Home And Location Were A Delight!

It was so comfortable and accessible to Ireland's treasures to stay in Jim and Fionnuala King's home in Raphoe. My family and I could relax in their home, do something leisurely by just walking out the front door and exploring the town, or by car or bus see the sights. I especially appreciated being able to explore both the Republic and also parts of Northern Ireland. We saw two world-class gardens, one half a mile from their home and another an hour's drive away. Hospitality of the Kings' friends and Irish strangers added to our comfort and fun. There were charming restaurants and pubs nearby and delicious food within half an hour's drive. I am so glad to have had this home exchange. Elaine Sullivan
