We are a large and loving family who enjoy skiing, the beach, boating, good food, music and travel. We have had three really wonderful exchanges so far and hope to see more of the world that way . Our oldest 4 oldest kids are in college or post grad so don't often get to travel with us. We enjoy animals and are happy to care for those at a home exchange (but you do not have to take care of ours if you'd rather not.

Degisim için önerdigimiz ev hakkinda
Our home in a historic suburb of Washington DC offers privacy, space, and convenience to the city, as well as the beautiful VA countryside. The commuter train is 10 minutes away to take you into DC, or within 15 minutes you can be in the countryside. If you choose to stay home, enjoy grilling and eating on the custom built patio, a game of basketball on our court, or maybe a jump on the trampoline. Enjoy the outdoors on the deck or patio (gas grill available), take a walk down to the river through the large woods behind us With nearly 4500 square ft of living space, your family will find a place to make themselves at home.We have four bedrooms upstairs, one with two sets of bunkbeds, and one with a day bed (these 2 share a bathroom). The 3rd bedroom has a Queen bed and a full bath. The huge main BR has a king bed, exercise equipment, and a large bath with separate shower and soaking tub. We have many toys, books, a piano, an open kitchen, eat in area and living room. Our home is elegant and yet comfortable and very liveable.

Semtimiz ve çevremiz hakkinda
We live on 1.3 acres near the end of a dead end street, so it is very quiet. Our home backs up to 50 acres of woods, with a path leading down to the river. It is a friendly neighborhood with children and lots of dogs! We love the fact that we are 5 minutes from grocery stores and shopping, and yet have privacy and nature surrounding us. Our town is a hub for commuting into the Washington DC area, so there are two places to pick up the commuter train, which can drop you in a couple places in DC or connect you to the metro which runs all over DC. We are surrounded by both city and country--within an hour or less you can be on your way to enjoying lovely hikes in the Blue Ridge, numerous winery tours, Civil War battlesites or simply a drive through historic and rolling horse country. Or you can head into the multiple museums and monuments and galleries of Washington DC (most of which are free!) Manassas itself has a lovely and vibrant Old Town full of shops and restaurants.

From our house it is a short drive to the town of Manassas, which has a lovely and thriving Old Town. Many shops & restaurants are there, all locally owned. There is also a Thursday and Saturday morning Farmers Market, which we frequent. If you are here in winter, there is ice skating on that same spot! The two famous Battles of Bull Run were fought in this area, and it is a popular tourist area for those interested in Civil War history. Not far is George Washington's home, Mount Vernon, as well as the homes of other American founders. The local area is literally filled with wineries, the closest one in nearby Clifton. We love to head out West towards the Blue Ridge Mountains, sometimes to hike, to pick fruit at local orchards, or just to drive down the winding backroads and see gorgeous scenery and farms and houses (especially in the Upperville/Middleburg area. And of course, Washington DC, with the zoo, the many Smithsonian museums, the monuments, all free and easily reachable

While our house is very well used, it is also well cared for. We have two cats and a dog, but they are not allowed upstairs. We would like the home to be left in the condition in which it was received; If it makes it easier for you, I can provide the number of our wonderful housekeeper.
