Francien works a an MD internal medicine, I work as a freelance web developer. We have a baby, Joshua, less than a year old, so he doesn't work too much yet. We love the outdoors, going on hikes, mountainbiking (well, that's mostly just me) and just being outside. Although new here on Homelink, I grew up with exchanging homes almost every holiday.

Light and spacious apartment (around 80 m2) on the second floor in the south of Amsterdam, quite close to the center, but far enough away to not be overcrowded. Out building is from the 1930s, in the Amsterdamse School style. The front faces a wide street and features a large bay window, typical from that era, which lets in lots of light to the living/dining room. The rear features a large balcony (great for a breakfast in the sun), and looks out over a quiet patio. The two bedrooms (one with a large 2x1,80m bed, the other with a child's bed) and kitchen all open towards the balcony.
We also have a very friendly cat. There are two bikes available for use in the city.

We're in a nice residential neighbourhood in the south of Amsterdam, quite close to the big museums. The house is located between two large parks, the Vondelpark and Rembrandtpark, both within a few minutes walking distance. The centre of Amsterdam is just a 10 minute bike ride (through the Vondelpark) away. Amsterdam Zuid and Lelylaan train stations are both very closeby. The bus and tram both stop almost right in front of our doorstep.

Being located right in the city, everything Amsterdam is known for is nearby: the famous museums, the canals, lots of cultural events, parks, etc. There's a great pizzeria right on the corner of our building. Some other thing I (Daan) like to do is head out to the Rembrandtpark right across the house and work out in the calisthenics park. When the weather is warmer, there are some nice natural swimming areas nearby, like the Nieuwe Meer. Or take the train from Lelylaan and head out to the beach.
But the best thing to do is just grab a bike, head out and explore.

We have a very friendly cat, and a few plants that need some love. We have a baby (Sept 2022), so babies are welcome too.
As for exchanges: any natural area with some hills/mountains (so we can hike/bike and Joshua can play in a garden) that's not extremely far away from Amsterdam would be really great! Since Francien is on a pretty tight schedule with her work, we've got holidays planned between 17 June - 2 July and also at the end of September (could maybe do a non-simultanious exchange too).
