We had a wonderful time in Petra and Peter's cosy dyke house. The house is very idyllically situated on the edge of the modern northern suburbs of Amsterdam. It is not far to the ferry to the centre of Amsterdam and it is also not far to the rural areas to the north. The communication with Petra and Peter was pleasant and uncomplicated. Thank you for your hospitality! We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in het knusse dijkhuis van Petra en Peter. Het huis is heel idyllisch gelegen aan de rand van de moderne noordelijke buitenwijk van Amsterdam. Het is niet ver naar de pont naar het centrum van Amsterdam en het is ook niet ver naar de landelijke gebieden in het noorden. De communicatie met Petra en Peter was prettig en ongecompliceerd. Bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid!

Wir waren eine Woche bei Peter und Petra und haben Amsterdam aus eine neuen Perspektive entdeckt. Morgens mit den Rädern zu Fähre, dann mit den „Einheimischen „ übersetzen und auf verschlungenen und abseitigen Wegen die Stadt entdecken. Es war bei herrlichem Oktoberwetter ein Genuss. Liebe Petra, lieber Peter, vielen Dank für eure Gastfreundschaft!

An rare historical dike- house with a nice few from the kitchen- table down upon the typical polder- landscape - watching the heron fishing , geese and ducks on the water or grasing. The steep stair- case - as in NL usual - is a challenge for older people. Everything tidy. A heartly welcome and the tulips blossing in the garden. A "oase" of quiet after returning from excusions. Many sightseeing destinations nearby: the mill- and open-air- museum Schans Zaans, Broek in Waterland Monnikendam, Marken, Vollendem, Edam, Alkmaar, Haarlem etc. All the interesting destination in Nord- Holland. As we don t use any more bicycles and the parking places at the Metro were full we had to drivr into the centre of Amsterdam visiting the marvelous museums, which was not an ideal idea. Parking fee: 6 €/h [36 day ticket].

... for 8 days in a cosy house with everything we needed: useful information about Amsterdam and the surroundings, good tips, bikes, nice view on a cattle herd on the pasture passing by in morning and evening... We liked very much to be there.

Het dijkhuis in A’dam Noord ligt heerlijk rustig en toch zo dichtbij het centrum van A’dam. Met de fiets 10 min tot de pont het IJ over en je bent in het centrum van A’dam! Het Noord-Hollands veenplassengebied Twiske is prima met de fiets te bereiken. De kennismaking met de ruilpartners vond bij ons plaats en verliep plezierig.

Mooie omgeving. Zeker de tuin. Twiske erg mooi.

Home Exchange Review: Sumatrakade Stay Over New Year’s Eve We recently had the pleasure of staying at a lovely home on Sumatrakade for 4 nights over New Year's Eve, and it was an experience worth sharing. Firstly, the location is superb. The view of the IJ from the house is breathtaking, especially at night with the city lights reflecting on the water. The spacious living room provided a cozy and comfortable space for relaxation, making our evenings delightful. One of the highlights of this location is its proximity to amenities. The nearby shopping center catered to all our needs, making our stay convenient and hassle-free. Moreover, the accessibility to public transportation is excellent; a short 6-minute bus ride takes you directly to Amsterdam Central Station, which was incredibly convenient for exploring the city. Our interaction with the hosts, Bastiaan and Martijn, deserves special mention. They were easy to contact and maintained a relaxed and friendly communication throughout. Their hospitality made a significant difference in our stay. This was not our first exchange with Bastiaan and Martijn; we have exchanged with them at least twice before. Each time, the experience has been consistently pleasant and enjoyable. In conclusion, we highly recommend this home exchange at Sumatrakade. Whether you’re looking for a scenic view, convenient location, or hospitable hosts, this place ticks all the boxes for an unforgettable stay.

The house of Petra and Peter is a perfect place for both: discovering the vibrant city of Amsterdam and relaxing. It´s just a short bike ride to the ferry that brings passengers in 15 minutes to the central station and only one hour by bike to the Zaanse Schanz. We felt very warm welcomed and spend a wonderful week there.

Prendre son petit-déjeuner à la campagne, face à une prairie humide où séjournent une foule d'oiseaux, et partir visiter Amsterdam par le ferry qui vous dépose en centre-ville, que demander de mieux? Nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous dans cette maison, merci à nos hôtes. Et merci aussi pour les vélos mis à notre disposition.

What a fantastic way to see Amsterdam, staying in a peaceful suburb with all local amenities within cycling distance of the historic centre. The house is a short bike ride from the free ferry which takes you right into the centre. From there all the museums, galleries and attractions are a short ride or walk away, or you can use public transport to go further afield. We were very lucky to have some really hot weather, so could swim outdoors in the local canal and at the nature reserve. There was so much to see and do that the two weeks went by far too quickly. We also loved watching the farm animals and wildlife on the polder behind the house. Petra kept in touch and took great care of our cats. I highly recommend this Exchange.

Excellent point de départ pour découvrir la ville et ses environs. Les voisins de nos hôtes se sont montrés très accueillants et ouverts à toutes nos questions .

An interesting mixture between nature and big city. In 15 minutes by bike you are in the center of Amsterdam but the home is surrounded by fields and canals, this is very special. We enjoyed this mixture. Petra and Peter gave us the advice to visit the beach of Castricum and we loved it. We felt very well in their nice house and garden. A "homelink-special" was swimming in the canal nearby the house. We wish them good luck for further exchanges-
