Our family home, in a tree-lined street, is ideally placed for exploring the vibrant university town of Cambridge. The picturesque historic centre, with its colleges, museums and shops, is walking distance away - or a short ride on the bus that passes our front door. And when you are tired of sight-seeing you can relax on our large patio leading to a beautiful and secluded garden!
Ours is a traditional 1930s house that we have recently completely renovated and extended to provide modern standards of comfort, while retaining its original features. The spacious hall leads into a large L-shaped living and dining area, with bifold doors that, on a warm day, can be opened up completely to link the living area seamlessly with our large patio. A glass sliding door leads from the living area to our large and well-equipped kitchen, with a dining alcove at one end. Windows run the whole length of the kitchen and around the alcove, making it a wonderfully light and airy room that is a delight to work and eat in.
The front ground floor room is a bedroom/study with twin beds and, combined with the downstairs bathroom with walk-in shower, provides self-contained accommodation that would be particularly suitable for a second couple, or those with reduced mobility who might find the stairs difficult.
On the first floor we have a quiet double bedroom with wonderful views of our long garden (and not another house to be seen). A small bedroom can be provided with a single bed or bunk beds. A large family bathroom has both bath and walk-in shower. (The other room on this floor is Chris's studio.)
The back of the house faces south-west and, in the summer months, the patio is bathed in sunshine for most of the day. A large dining table on the patio encourages us to eat 'al fresco' as often as we can, often cooking on the gas-fired BBQ. If it gets too hot (that can happen!) we have many garden chairs that you can use in our more shaded mini orchard. You may also be tempted to wander further down the garden where, at the right time of the year, you can pick the strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrants growing in our large fruit cage, or whatever is growing in our vegetable plot.
Please look at our photographs and, if you like what you see, get in touch with us.
