My stay at Lorne and Sylvia's welcoming home was wonderful. Their home is comfortable, well equipped and Lorne's garden is a delight. I was warmly welcomed by a neighbour and plenty of information was left in an organized binder to suggest things to do. I enjoyed cutting bouquets of dahlias to enjoy both indoors and on their patio. The location of their home reflects the spirit of the Comox Valley with beautiful trees. I thoroughly enjoyed many hikes that started just down the road from their home. As well, there were many hike opportunities further afield in the Comox Valley. There are several small towns nearby to explore - with delightful stores, museums and wonderful seafood. Between my forest hikes and ocean walks I felt that I truly enjoyed the Comox Valley experience.

We had a lovely time at Sylvia and Lauren‘s house in Comox. The house is in a lovely country setting and the garden is just beautiful. Our son and his partner came out and joined us for the first week which was fantastic, and we went to several wonderful sightseeing locales all of which were pretty close to hand. We went to the Cathedral Forest, Mount Washington, Nanaimo and Campbell River to whale watch. We also went deep-sea fishing for salmon, which we highly recommend. There are many gorgeous hiking trails very close by, as is the ocean, and several lovely beaches. We spent a day travelling to Victoria to see our goddaughter which was an easy drive and only three hours away. All amenities are close by, and as there is very little traffic it’s a wonderful area to go bicycling. We had a great time, and all in all it was a terrific exchange.

Thank you so much, dear Sylvia and Lorne! The house and garden are a dream, we felt absolutely home. We will never forget the hummingbirds in the garden and the deer around the house, that seems to be in the middle of the forest. We loved the hike to Seal Beach together with Sylvia and also the Filberg Festival and Marina Day at Comox. Thank you again for inviting us to a barbecue when we arrived – this is Canadian hospitality! We did not only have a wonderful vacation at Vancouver Island but also found new friends! It was a highlight! Vancouver Island itself is a wonderful place for people who love nature. I am sure we will come back some day in the future.
