We live in a bright modern house. Our home is welcoming and comfortable. We have a large private garden which is an ideal spot for taking in the beautiful scenery and stunning sunsets. The rear and the side of the house have patios with nice views of the countryside. You can see cows and horses grazing in the fields close to our house. Our neighbours are friendly and you can enjoy peaceful scenic walks along the local country lanes.

We live 3km from Loughrea's town centre. Loughrea is a typical small country town in the West of Ireland. Loughrea has many pubs which frequently have live music. There are also numerous restaurants offering both traditional food and cuisine from around the world (Indian, Chinese, Italian). There are many shops in the town including a delicatessen and a good bakery.

In many towns and villages within easy reach there are a variety of Irish pubs where you can hear the best of Irish traditional music for free. These are smoke free places nowadays.

There is a lake in the town (known as Lake Rea) ideal for swimming, fishing and boating. It is a five minute drive from our house. For the past number of years, Lough Rea's excellent water quality and well maintained shore has earned it the European Blue Flag status making it one of the few inland lakes to receive this much coveted environmental award. The Long Point swimming area at the lake is well equipped with changing rooms and showers, ample parking and picnic areas. There is also a cathedral famous for its interesting stained glass windows.

Our location in the West of Ireland is a good location for sightseeing, with many attractions nearby. Along with our location being a fantastic base for touring the Burren region and Slieve Aughty Mountains, it is an excellent spot for trout fishing and a variety of water sports. As well as been a beautiful rural setting, there are many areas of interest nearby, such as the rugged Connemara coastline, Galway city, the world renowned Burren area of North Clare, the caves of the Burren area. Loughrea is famous for its fishing and there are good Golf courses in Loughrea and other towns nearby such as Portumna, Gort and Oranmore.

Loughrea has a regular bus service (with busses leaving every hour) which will take you to Galway city or to Dublin (including directly to the Airport). Shannon airport is an hours drive away. We live just 20 mins from the Atlantic Ocean and Galway city is also only 20 minute drive away. It is a vibrant university town (with around 70,000 inhabitants) situated by the sea. There are city beaches and a lovely promenade. Galway has a lively arts, music and theatre scene. There are a large number of restaurants, cafes and, of course, authentic old Irish pubs abound, offering great food, local beers and traditional Irish music.

Our house is well positioned for touring in Connemara and County Clare, which have some of the best beaches, rivers, lakes and national parks in Ireland. Connemara is well known for its mountains and lakes, and is an ideal destination if you enjoy hill-walking or fishing. Opportunity for scenic Hill Walking in Connemara (Maumturks, Twelve Pins & Connemara National Park, Letterfrack (Diamond Hill) Visit the Aran Islands for breathtaking scenery.

Close proximity to The Burren and Scenic Coastal areas. County Clare is famous for its unique limestone ecosystem (the Burren) which is home to rare wild flowers. Other interesting sights include the 6th century monastic settlement of Clonmacnoise near Athlone, the 12th century Athlone Castle, Birr Castle and the raised Bog of Allen. Surfing is popular in County Clare, expecially in Lahinch.

If you would like to see more of Ireland, Dublin is less than 2 hours drive using the new Motorway.

The beautiful county of Mayo is an hours drive away, and this county is famous for its beaches and mountains. To the east lies the river Shannon (Ireland's longest river) renowned for course fishing and boating (25 minute drive from us).
