It was a very special exchange in this wunderful houseboat! It was relaxing to always look at the canal, having a view at the water with birds and ducks. Leiden is a great city and we loved it to reach it within 20 minutes from the seaside, especially for long walking trips with the dog. It was a great stay, which we would love to repeat anytime - thank you!

Das Hausboot von Hilleke und Mijndert in Leiden ist wunderschön! Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und die Tage dort sehr genossen. Man kann auf der Terrasse sitzen, Kaffeetrinken und aufs Wasser schauen. Drinnen ist es sehr schön und gemütlich eingerichtet. Leiden ist eine sehr hübsche kleine Stadt mit vielen Cafés und Restaurants. Mit dem Fahrrad kann man alles wunderbar erkunden. Toll ist auch die Nähe zu Katwijk an Zee. Wir danken Hilleke und Mijndert für diesen tollen Tausch!

It is a special experience to live on a houseboat - we were able to stay 2 weeks in the beautiful houseboat of Mijndert and Hilleke in Leiden. The houseboat is spacious and equipped with everything you need for a nice holiday. The location is in neighbourhood with other nice houseboat residents and opposite are beautiful old trees, which also create a nice living atmosphere. The exchange was very well prepared by Mijndert and Hilleke through emails and whats app in advance and again in writing in the flat. We liked it so much in the houseboat, in the lively and cosy city of Leiden with its many sights, that we spent a lot of time in the city and the surrounding area and did not go further away. The sea is only about 10 km away, we went there a few times with the bikes. In the documents in the house there were many tips about things worth seeing in and around Leiden. We felt very comfortable and would like to take this opportunity to thank them very much - and can recommend them as exchange partners at homelink! Steffie and Georg

Vivre sur un canal ne nous était jamais arrivé et ce fût une belle expérience ! Merci à nos hôtes d’avoir partagé leur belle maison Nous nous y sommes tout de suite sentis très bien, tout y est accessible, rien ne manque. Nous avons pu nous reposer devant le spectacle des oiseaux qui nous a réjoui, et celui des bateaux qui nous a surpris. Leiden est une vieille ville universitaire, pleine de charme et offre de multiples possibilités de visites. La mer et ses grandes plages de sable ne sont pas loin. Bref, un séjour qui nous laisse de très jolis souvenirs...

Wij verbleven in de woonark van Hilleke en Meindert en hebben daar volop genoten. Heerlijk met kopje koffie of glaasje wijn aan het water waar de (meestal) stille boten voorbij kwamen. En dan toch direct in het oude centrum van Leiden. We kenden deze mooie stad onvoldoende, maar hebben dat nu ingehaald. Met onze fietsen de stad en de omgeving verkend. Een heerlijke tijd! Dank voor het gebruik van jullie mooie woonplek met het fleurige interieur.

We stayed for one week on this very comfortable houseboat. From where you can visit the lovely city-centre of Leiden, but also: The Hague, Haarlem, Amsterdam and the beach of Katwijk.Mijndert and Hilleke made us feel very welcome and we loved the atmosphere in, and around, the boat. The boat is on the edge of the city-centre of Leiden which makes it both tranquile and easy to go, by foot, into the city centre with all its interesting hotspots. The two bicycles are very handy too! No car needed at all. Thanks Hilleke and Mijndert for this positive experience and for the good care you took for our home, and chickens (and pigs).

We enjoyed a wonderful week on this amazing houseboot! It's not only a most beautiful home, but also located at a perfect spot: within the inner-city, but nevertheless green and relatively quiet. It is lovely to sit on the terrace and watch all the boats going by!

From the beginning we fell in love with the idea of living on a real canal in a beautiful and comfortable houseboat in the middle of an old, cultural and interesting Dutch city. We dreamed of toasting the passing boats on the terrace in the evening with a glass of wine and to experience the tranquility of the surroundings. We wanted to explore the beautiful old town on our bicycles and make excursions to the surrounding area and the sea. Visit Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Delft and get to know the flower fields and cheese factories. Unfortunately my partner could not come with me and so I had these experiences all to myself. Our first meeting with our hosts in Zell was Corona conditionally only short, but no less cordial. I would have liked to get to know them a little better. Maybe another time. Arriving in Leiden, everything was as I had hoped, even more beautiful. I had two wonderful unforgettable weeks on the houseboat in Leiden.Thanks for everything, Hilleke and Mijndert.
