Our house
The flat in the ground floor of our house has a living room with chimney, a dining room, kitchen, a big sleeping room with winter garden,a guest room for one person, a bath room, a big terrace and a smaller one, a pool with resting place which you can use. The flat is ideal for 3 persons. The view from the windows is very nice, because the house is situated a little up the hill. In the flat upstairs lives a young couple and under the roof one woman. In the cellar is an office with separate entrance, which will not disturb you. The upper floors have balconies at the other side oft he house, away from our main terrace. The whole day you can choose between the sunny or the shady side. The house is situated in a very calm part oft he town, a bakery,a grocery, two banks and a pharmacy you can reach within a 5 minutes walk down the hill. Leaving the house, you can make nice walks through fields and forest. To town you can go on foot in 20 minutes, by bicycle in 10 minutes or by train.
The area
Our town Lörrach (50.000 inhabitants) is situated close to the Black Forest and in the three-country- corner of Germany, France (7 km) and Switzerland (2km). It is a wine area, you can enjoy good food, nice landscapes, culture (art, music, theatre), interesting old towns and high mountains, lakes and an easy way of life. To the highest mountain oft he Black Forest you drive about 45 minutes by car. There are lakes, nice villages and a lot of paths to walk. You can also walk nearby. Old towns and the Swiss mountains are only a small distance away: Basel/Switzerland at the river Rhein with cathedral, old town and famous art museums (10 km to the city and 10 minutes by train), Zürich or the Alpes of Switzerland (about 1-1 ½ hours by car), Freiburg (Germany) with cathedral and old town (45 minutes by car or train) Colmar (France) with its frame work houses and the nice wine area and mountains around (about 30 minutes by car), Strassbourg (France) with cathedral and old town (2 hours by car), or even Paris ( by TGV-train from Basel 3 hours). The world famous art museum Fondation Beyeler in Riehen/Basel lies 30 minutes away on foot or 15 minutes by bicycle, in Weil am Rhein, our neighbour town, ist the Vitra Design Museum very famous. We live in the warmest part of Germany and people call it „the Tuscany of Germany“.The airport Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg is only 20 minutes away.
