We loved our exchange. It is a comfortable and beautifully decorated home which is well loved and cared for and we felt right at home. Mark and Helen left plenty of local food treats for us to enjoy and advice about local eateries which were very handy. We loved wandering around Kendal, ate well in Comida and enjoyed a comedy gig at the Arts Centre before we went onto Lancaster. We had a lovely stay - thank you, the Hallwood’s are wonderful hosts and we highly recommend their home.

This was our first home exchange so we were naturally a bit nervous beforehand. We should not have been . It was a fantastic experience. We were made so welcome by Helen and Mark in their beautiful spotless bungalow home. Everything was perfect with a lovely welcome gift and everything so neat and tidy and labelled with anything we needed for an excellent holiday. We felt right at home. Their home is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting out in their beautiful enclosed patio garden with all the fabulous planting and a great barbeque. A gorgeous sun trap for breakfast and an evening drink and the only sounds were the birds overhead. Kendal is a great town with lots to explore along the river and through the streets of the town and all the lovely shops. We enjoyed the Abbott museum and church alongside. We had a delicious Sunday Dinner in the pub Ye old Fleece in the centre of town. The house id perfectly located for the lakes. We had a lovely trip to lake Windermere only 20 minutes away and all that has to offer. We did a lovely walk from Ambleside around the Loughrigg tarn with fabulous views over Grasmere and Rydal Water - the home of Wordsworth. We also drove to Kentmere and walked the Kentmere Horseshoe and around the resevioir. We stopped in Staveley for a delicious breakfast in a lovely cafe next door to the Haweshead Brewery and again on the way back for a well earned local beer in the brewery. There is a great bike shop nearby too. We would highly recommend home exchanging with Helen and Mark.
