Brisbane is a great city with many attractions and things to do weather is good all year. Summer months November to March are the hottest average temperature 20-28°C (68-82°F). Winter average temperature 15-21°C (60-70°F) clear, sunny and dry. Our 1930's traditional Queenslander home has been recently extensively renovated, with all the mod cons, garden, pool (solar heated), and verandas overlooking the Brisbane river. It is situated in West End, a riverside suburb with cafes and restaurants and a ferry ride to the city centre. We are across the road from the river and park with beautiful big fig trees, children's playground and bike/ jogging paths that go all the way to the nearby South Bank ( Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Science Centre, theatres, cinema, restaurants and the "City Beach", with beach, pool, parks and an outdoor water centre -canoeing etc).

Our neighbourhood is adjacent to the Brisbane River with trees and parks. It is a vibrant, creative area a popular Brisbane cafe scene. Our house is opposite the river and park, so in the quieter part of the neighbourhood, with many cafes, restaurants and bars a short distance. The river catamaran and bus stops are one minute walk and bike/ jogging paths run through the riverside park all the way into the city and beyond. There is a good alfresco style cafe 1 minute walk along the river for morning coffee and breakfast ( which also opens as a bar some evenings). There are several local markets. A food and craft market on Saturdays which is by the river where I buy my fresh food for the week and listen to the live music with a good cup of coffee. There is another good market open all weekend which has food stalls , live music, a bar and excellent individual crafts. There are two local 50m pools, yoga/ pilates centres, massage, Aikido/ karate, indoor rock climbing and gyms.

There is plenty to do in and around Brisbane all year round. It is 10-15 minutes bus, catamaran or bicycle along the riverside cycle path to the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Performing Arts Centre/ theatres, science centre, and South Bank with it's "City Beach", pools , parks, buskers, restaurants, markets, cinema, and a river centre ( kayaking, rock climbing on riverside cliffs, abseiling etc.). the city catamaran stops at many other interesting places. Mount Coo-tha botanical gardens have Aboriginal art and plants trails. Brisbane is known to the Aboriginal people as Mian-Jin and is the home of the Turrbal and Jagera people. Local Aboriginal " greeters" are available to show and talk to you about Aboriginal areas of interest. It is 50 minutes South by car to the Gold Coast with it's theme parks and white sandy beaches and North to the sunshine coast. Other attractions include Currumbin wildlife sanctuary, Lone Pine koala sanctuary, many more!
