Our flat is located on the edge of the biosphere reserve Pfälzerwald-Nordvogesen, the only transboundary biosphere reserve in Germany with the largest contiguous forest area in Western Europe. Here, hiking enthusiasts benefit from legendary rock formations of red sandstone and vantage points along castles and ruins. You can go for climbing, riding, baloon flying, swimming, canoeing, golfing, tennis and experience trolley rides and much more. A special feature of the region are the Palatinate Forest huts, which offer traditional Palatinate cuisine for every budget all year round. In addition to the forest, the region offers many opportunities to relax, for example in spas and at wine tastings. There are various wine festivals around the year for which the region is famous. You can walk along the Rhine on numerous paths, on natural areas such as the arms of the Altrhein or on tarred paths that also invite you to go on bicycle tours.

Other large towns such as Speyer, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Worms and Heidelberg are nearby and invite you to go shopping, visit museums, go out to eat and spend time in parks. Furthermore, there are a number of cosy towns along the wine route, such as St. Martin, Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Bad Dürkheim or Deidesheim, which are ideal for a stroll through town and good food. The French region of Alsace-Lorraine is less than an hour away. Strasbourg can be reached in an hour's drive.
