For inspiration in the writing of our own stories, here are some excerpts from Christel’s book:

During the Corona Pandemic, which made traveling very difficult or even impossible, I was able to travel only in my mind. That time was an opportunity to relive intensely our home exchanges of 38 years. My husband and I exchanged memories about them, selected photos, watched videos of our exchanges and finally reported on them.

Most encounters with our exchange partners and their friends were so moving that I will never forget them.

We have exchanged our home more than 50 times with great enthusiasm and thus spent eventful holidays outside of the tourist strongholds. Through "home-exchanging", we were able to feel at home in many parts of the world. I don't want to create a travel guide with these memories, but capture beautiful experiences with people my husband and I exchanged with and which through their hospitality made unforgettable stays and encounters possible."

Home exchangers from the USA, Australia, Iceland and many other countries spent their holidays in the house of the Klemenjak family while allowing the Klemenjaks to feel at home in many countries in the world. This is how wonderful and long-lasting friendships were formed. "Living like the locals" for several weeks was always a great, often exciting experience and an extraordinary opportunity to get to know new cultures and ways of life and to enjoy warm hospitality.|

For this kind of gentle tourism, landscapes do not have to be spoiled with hotel complexes which are the same world wide. "Homelinkers" usually live in homes or apartments in holiday areas where you can relax properly and get to know your new surroundings.

This type of vacation is also economical, both to us and the economy. We stay longer and nothing is lost. Guests come to our city, shop here, eat here, attend cultural events, maybe spend more money than we would have.

We lure vacationers to our country and cities with each exchange. »

HomeLink wants to help local Tourism and our New Zealand
Members.

Our group of NZ members, most of whom love to travel overseas are, I am sure,
looking forward in these difficult times to enjoying Local Holidays.
We will keep this option of Local travel so that we can enjoy each others country.
There are lots of opportunities in some fabulous tourist areas and cities. We can all help in some small way by supporting Tourist shops and restaurants and having an enjoyable holiday at 'Home'.

What's the catch ?.....

The only catch is that you need a home to exchange preferably in a holiday area or a main centre because our Members are looking for a holiday.

If you have a Holiday Home or Motor Home you are in an unbelievable position because you can do non simultaneous exchanges so easily. You can add your Holiday home to your listing for no extra charge.
