  Not just a stunningly beautiful and peaceful location but a home brimming with character and adventure inside and out. The sort of holiday home children will remember forever and adults dream of finding, whether active or to needing to wind down. Sadly we did not meet Henry and Ruth but they were generous and helpful hosts and we felt very at home amongst so many books and beams. Thank you, so much!

• Relaxing week with stunning views

  Ruth and Henry are very relaxed, friendly people. Their home is quite unique with lots of beautiful features, and a stunning view. This swap is perfect for walkers, nature lovers and people who want to just chill and enjoy the view. There was good communication throughout and we came back to find our home, garden and hens all in good order. We look back on a happy exchange with fond memories. Many thanks for the hospitality. • A fantastic location and a home full of charm

  We had a great time at Henry and Ruth's wonderful home. We were fortunate to enjoy lovely weather so we were able to enjoy eating outside every day with the most idyllic views towards the fells around Crummock and Buttermere. This is a beautiful and quiet part of the Lakes and just perfect for walking and cycling. The house is full of character and really homely - we loved it.

• A well located family home

  We very much enjoyed our stay near Loweswater, a quieter corner of the Lake District National Park. The house is a real family home with bags of character. We stayed here with friends and enjoyed cosy evenings by the fire especially as a hurricane raged outside. We had lovely meals around the kitchen table and when the winds died down we explored the 4 acres around the house. We enjoyed some great walks on the fells, a 'Wordsworth day' around Grasmere and had good food and drink at the lovely Kirkstile Inn. Henry and the family made sure we were comfortable and we would recommend this exchange to any Lake District lover.

• Lovely place in a stunning environment

  We appreciated very much the Lake District with its stunning views, excellent walks, quite lakes and loneliness. Loweswater is situated in a lesser visited part of the district. The house has a very large garden which is a joy for the children and had a special corner for the adults to enjoy the environment while having a drink or a meal. There are a lot of rooms in the house, so everyone can find his own spot. Yet the kitchen is rather basic, do not expect a lot of exciting equipment. If you like to visit the lovely Lake District and do not fancy a fancy house, this might be just the place you are looking for.

• An unusual home in a stunning location

  We had a really fabulous week in this lovely barn conversion. The house was a real family home and the kids loved all the toys and exploring the land and feeding the goats. It was a great base for exploring the Lakes and we had a great time.

• Amazing house in an amazing location

  Whether it rains or shines, this house is a brilliant place to be. Imaginatively contructed, it feels like a little castle in which there are so many nice places to sit down with a book or a cup of tea. We arrived in gale-force winds at Easter, and spent two days huddled up comfortably, the children delighted to play with all the toys in the gallery upstairs, us adults reading and listening to music, and all of us cooking. The house has fantastic views, so just staying "at home" was a pleasure. The rest of the week the weather was fine, and we spent every day walking in the hills for hours, most of the walks very close to the house. Thank you Henry and Ruth, for sharing your home with us.
