Take a ferry to hike the islands or cruise around them on a whale-watching boat. Buy fresh caught seafood at the Harbor to grill at home or eat fresh seafood at one of the restaurants on Stearns Wharf.

The city is an eclectic mix of college habitants (University of California, City College, Westmont), retirees, Latinos, old hippies and ultra-rich (eg Oprah Winfrey, Nick Lowe, etc.). Our next door neighbors boat stalled in the harbor and a bearded guy ferried them back to his house on a paddle-board. His wife was bringing them tea and towels when they realized it was Kevin Costner. Every Sunday there is an art fair along the beach where local artists sell their wares.
