Beskrivning av hemmet vi erbjuda att byta bort

We live in a terraced house built in 1908 in a leafy London suburb. The ground floor consists of an entrance hall, two reception rooms, one with an open fire and one with a wood-burning stove, and a large kitchen/diner. Double French doors open onto a long, peaceful and wooded garden. A small river runs along the bottom of the garden, and there is a large patio where you can eat and drink outside, weather permitting. The garden faces south-east and is very warm in the summer. There is a small pond with frogs and newts. The ground floor also has a room with a toilet and shower. The first floor has two larger bedrooms, each with a double bed (not king), a smaller, single bedroom and the main bathroom. The top floor consists of a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom. It has French windows with great views over the gardens. It also has a keyboard and guitar, which you are welcome to play.

Beskrivning av vårt grannskap och omgivning

Our neighbourhood is a small, peaceful and friendly suburb in north-east London. There are some small shops including a specialist wine shop and wholefood shop. There are several cafes, two pubs and a medium-sized Tesco supermarket, also several restaurants, including Indian, Chinese and Mediterranean. There's also an old cinema which is currently closed, awaiting restoration. If you are looking for an area with a vibrant local nightlife this would not be your best choice. However we have excellent links with central London. The railway into central London runs through the area and we have a traditional railway crossing, (with a grade 2 listed original railway signal box). The station is just five minutes' walk from our house and overground trains run every fifteen minutes into London Liverpool Street, which is one of the main London stations, and very convenient for the City and the whole of east London. Alternatively, an easy change onto the underground (tube) brings you into Oxford Circus and the heart of London's West End, all in under thirty minutes. If you like open countryside as well as city, our house is within walking distance of the magnificent and ancient Epping Forest, which covers an area of 1728 hectares and is a Site of Special Conservation.

Våra tips om platser att gå och saker att göra när du bor i vårt hem

Locally, Epping Forest is within easy walking distance, also our local park with lake, cafe and a playground for children. There is a selection of shops and services, and a good rail system. An efficient bus service runs to nearby Walthamstow, which we have been told has the longest street market in Europe! Saturday is the busiest day for this. Walthamstow Village is lively, with good restaurants and cafes, plus its own gin distillery and brewery, and the not-to-be-missed God's Own Junkyard, a funky art store featuring colourful neon signs and other eclectic pieces, and the Rolling Scones cafe. You can also visit the William Morris Gallery nearby. We are also close to the River Lea, one of London's major rivers feeding into the Thames, which has many walks and can be quickly reached by tube or bus.

Most people who would like to exchange with our home will be mainly interested in London's attractions, and all of these, too numerous to mention, are easily accessible from here, whether it is places of interest such as the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace, or parks, galleries, museums, theatres, restaurants, the South Bank, markets, river trips and so on. We have excellent road links from here with the M11 and M25 motorways and Cambridge is an easy day trip by train from London Liverpool Street.

We have indicated that plant care is not needed. However, between the months of May and September it would be helpful if guests could water our potted plants on the patio every few days, as they tend to get very dry.
