We are a German/British family with two grownup children and a dog - the dog always stays with friends when we have an exchange. We love sport activities. ( football, running, swimming and gym as well as cycling) plus we have cocker spaniel dog ( but generally no pet sitting required). We love travelling and have been to many European countries, the USA, Canada and some Asian countries. We have previously done a number of home exchanges to France, Canada, USA and Germany . We are more likely to travel as two adults nowadays and can be interested in longer term exchanges as well if this is of interest to you. We are open to all offers, we work remotely nowadays and freelance so we can consider options as they present themselves. We can plan exchanges from October 2023 onwards. Summer is not possible for us as our student children return home to work in Cambridge. We are currently looking for weekend exchanges in the UK (ideally we woudl like to bring our well behaved dog who is not allowed into bedrooms and onto soft furnishing) any time and Australia/New Zealand in either early 2024 or October 2024 to end of Nov 2024) and Canada, USA from spring to end of summer 2024. We would also consider Japan in March 2024.

Beskrivning av vårt grannskap och omgivning
Our house is in a new neighbourhood with nearby access to a country park and a Waitrose supermarket which is an upmarket grocery store. The neighbourhood is residential with a secondary school providing a gym facility and we have access to a countryside park with a lake. Cambridge is very compact and whilst one can be right in the town centre within 10 minutes, 10 minutes the other way take you into the countryside of South Cambridgeshire with access to villages, pubs and country walks. Our house is ten minutes from the station by bike and the train takes 50 minutes into central London.

Våra tips om platser att gå och saker att göra när du bor i vårt hem
The historic city centre is 10 minutes by bike, buses go regularly into town and take 5-10 minutes. There are many colleges and historic buildings to be explored. Cambridge market is open every day and provides fresh produce as well as street food stalls offering cuisine of many countries. Mill Road is a boho-chic area with quirky shops and cafes. Cambridge offers many park areas along the river Cam - in summer you can hire a punt and go along the river or hire a guide to be punted. Or maybe walk from our house through the parks to Newnham and from there on to Grantchester, a quaint village just on the outskirts of Cambridge and spend time in the “Orchard” tea room where Rupert Brooke and other poets spent many afternoons. Trips to the coast and beaches of Norfolk and Suffolk are possible - the journey will take around one hour to 90 Minutes. Explore Sandringham estate in Norfolk where the royals spend Easter and Christmas. Or visit nearby National Trust estates such as Wimpole, Anglesey Abbey or visit Audley End House, a national heritage property. Day trips to London are always a favourite as are trips to nearby Ely to visit the stunning cathedral. Other possible day trips could be to Stratford-upon Avon or to Warwick.

Vad vi gillar, vad vi inte gillar ... Här är våra preferenser och husregler.
We have done a number of exchanges and if our exchange partner has a cleaner, we like to ask them to do a end of stay clean and we arrange the same to be done by our cleaner. We are happy to discuss/ agree departure/cleaning with each partner to ensure that the end of the holiday is enjoyable. Sometimes flights are early in the morning and it is tricky to clean/ make beds before leaving. We have a dog but she usually would stay with friends. We are happy to discuss the option of a pet being allowed but our rule is that no pets are allowed beyond the first floor. If you have a pet allergy, then it is probably best not to choose our house as it is hard to remove all traces of pet hair. In summer, we usually have some flowers in pots outside and it would be lovely if the exchange partner could water the plants occasionally.
