The city was a surprise, with many layers of life and history to uncover. We visited the museums and houses of favourite composers, enjoyed superb concerts, and walked the route of the city's resistance to its post-war Russian occupation. The variety and creativity of food reflected a multi-cultural vibe of the town. The apartment was a very comfortable place, probably once inhabited by a Stasi commander (don't miss the museum of the Stasi, located in its former headquarters, and untouched since). The spacious rooms and high ceilings reminded us of an old flat in Manhattan, or in Montreal, lovingly maintained to its original glorious intent. We enthusiastically recommend this exchange opportunity to other Homelinkers!
