We have an exchange organised for August in the Netherlands but we are still open to offers in Europe. We are an outgoing couple, married for 44 years, recently retired and eager for adventure. We have been waiting for this freedom for a long time and would love to go to places we have never seen before. We want to explore and see your area. We have a box full of information of where to go and what to see when you come here and we would love you to do the same for us. When you are a local, you know where to go and how to get there. We look forward to hearing from you.

There is so much to do and see in the area and our hosts provided all the information we needed to explore the very many attractions in the area . As we tend not to cook when on holidays, we were delighted with the food at The Waterman in Belfast and The Look Out in Ballycastle (the views are amazing). The (and lunch at The Watermelon). Upstairs in Castello's restaurant in Carrickfergus was a great treat after a long and enjoyable day finding our way to the Giant's Causeway from the town of Bushmill via foot and local bus. We look forward to a return trip to Antrim before too long as we have much more to explore. Thank you Avril and Clive. You are wonderful hosts and your home is magnificent.

We didn't get the weather for a BBQ on their new deck, but the weather gods did smile on us enough to enjoy the Gobbins walk and a great hike on the Scenic Route in Glenariff Forest Park. The museum in Carrickfergus is worth a visit as is the Coronation Garden near Belfast and its dancing trees! We also really enjoyed a great hike on Divis and Black Mountain. There's plenty more there to enjoy. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time exploring the area, fantastic scenery, great places of interest to visit. Avril had provided a great list of walks and places to visit. The Gobbins and white head among a few. We took the train into Belfast and explored the city. We were also able to relax and read in their lovely garden. It was our first time in this area of Northern Ireland and we would recommend it as a place to visit. Thank you Avril and Clive for giving us this opportunity to visit your area.

It was a pleasure to sit out in the garden for a BBQ and then have the luxury of returning to the conservatory after sunset for a glass of wine and a game of 'Taboo'. It was a bonus to meet Clive and Avril and we thoroughly recommend them as conscientious exchange partners.

Read More...After Avril's and Clive's warm-hearted welcome at the airport, I instantly knew, that my stay at their home would be wonderful, I was right - their house and garden are lovely, their neighborhood very friendly and helpful. One even invited me to see the Mourne Mountains with Silent Valley and Belfast University with its botanic gardens. Carrickfergus is a great spot for exploring beautiful surroundings: Titanic Museum, the "Coastal Route" to the south via Bangor, Donaghadee with its lovely port, Mount Stewart, up to Portaferry. The gorgeous "Coastal Route" to the north up to the World Heritage site of "Giant's Causeway" and further on going by ferry into Ireland up to Dunfanaghy with its spectacular "Horn Head", the "Atlantic Drive" and "Glenveagh NP." being my final highlights. Once again thank you so much Avril and Clive, for making this unforgettable trip possible.

Having met them and chatted over coffee before our trip, I felt assured that every effort would have been made to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their house was spacious and immaculate. Their friendly neighbours were aware of our arrival and at hand should we need assistance with anything. Carrigfergus is a delightful town and a gateway to the beautiful Glens of Antrim. It is an ideal location for walking and exploring that part of Ireland. We wish Avril and Clive the very best with future home exchanges...Mary & Johnny.

Our 3 bedroomed, detached, south facing modern bungalow, is in a quiet cul-de-sac, just 2 miles from the sea. It is decorated to a high standard, sleeps 5/6 comfortably, has fully equipped kitchen and utility, lounge, TV room, conservatory, office, ensuite, bathroom, gas central heating, large back garden with new decking to sit out and BBQ .
We are 10 miles outside Belfast and 100 miles from Dublin. There is a train station 2 miles away. In Belfast there is the famous Titanic centre and in the city centre there are lots of bars and restaurants.
There are lots of walks close by. We have a local reservoir with stunning views. You can walk along the seafront in Carrick and Whitehead, or go further afield up the Antrim coast. You will not be disappointed.
Up at the very top of N. Ireland is GIANTS causeway and BUSHMILLS whiskey, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Dark Hedges, Glenarm castle and gardens, the ferry to Rathlin Island, Mussenden Temple, 7 miles of golden sand at Benone beach and much more. Come and see for yourself. We look forward to hearing from you.
