From our house it is a short walk to the Appalachian Trail, which you can hike for as long or short a time as you like -- all day, or 30 minutes. A 5 minute drive in the car takes you to the delightful town of Great Barrington, with cafés, bars, fine dining and all the shops you can imagine. Historic Stockbridge, made famous by Norman Rockwell's charming paintings, is 15 minutes by car, and you can stop by the Rockwell Museum on the way. Antiques, museums, fine art and crafts as well as Broadway level theater and top tier orchestras and dance companies are available for your pleasure.
