We had such a wonderful time in Robert and Sandra's beautiful home in Wangen. Prior to swapping we kept in touch regularly and I instantly felt at ease speaking to Robert, who was so enthusiastic about our swap, and so organised and thorough. Throughout the exchange we kept in contact with any questions we had and Robert and Sandra made it all so easy. They are such genuinely lovely people. The house itself was gorgeous and spotlessly clean with so many interesting personal touches. It was very spacious, and we particularly enjoyed the lovely terrace and garden, as well as the open plan living area downstairs. They made every effort possible to accommodate our needs, getting hold of all the baby/ toddler equipment we needed and even plenty of toys to keep our two girls amused. It really was a home from home. Wangen itself is a picture-postcard town with cobbled streets and so many places to sit/ eat/ watch the world go by. The town centre is a 15 min walk from their house and such a lovely base for a holiday. There are bakeries within a few minutes' walk, as well as a huge variety of supermarkets within walking distance, or you can hop on one of their many bikes! There were lots of events organised in the town. We spent most of our days visiting different German/ Swiss/ Austrian towns on Lake Constance, which are only half an hour's drive away and are just breathtakingly beautiful. Swapping cars worked perfectly and we very much enjoyed their spacious VW transporter. There are so many opportunities for walking, cycling, swimming, shopping, relaxing and taking in the wonderful scenery. For our girls, the outdoor swimming pools on the lakeside were fantastic, where we could either swim in the lake or in the pool and picnic and play all day long. There were so many activities in the surrounding area for all sorts of ages. Robert and Sandra provided a lot of information about what to do in the area, as well as everything we needed to know about their house in their excellent house file. Wangen is less than two hours' drive from Munich, and so we finished off our stay with a couple of nights in this fantastic city. We definitely didn't want to leave and would go back there in a heart beat! And of course, when we got home our house was just as we had left it. Thank you Robert and Sandra.
