In the immediate vicinity there are local walks around the unique landscape of the Somerset Levels a huge area of wetland which was once covered by the sea. Mumps and mounds such as Glastonbury Tor and Burrow Mump rise up from the Levels to give magnificent far reaching views. These wetlands are important bird and wildlife habitats with a network of rivers and rhynes.
Locally you'll find cider farms, the willow craft centres, Muchelney Abbey, three National Trust properties close by, Glastonbury Abbey, the amazing Fleet Air Arm Museum where visitors experience the noise and drama of what its like on an air craft carrier, Haynes Motor Museum, Cadbury Castle and Yeovil Railway Centre to name a few.
Within about a 30 minute drive you can reach any of five different Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: Quantock Hills, Blackdown Hills, Mendip Hills, Dorset, Cranborne Chase AONBs.
In an hour you can drive to Exmoor National Park, the Somerset coast (Watchet/Minehead/Weston-super-Mare), Dorset's Jurassic coast, Chesil Beach, Lyme Regis, West Bay, Weymouth and attractions such as Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole.
