My husband Greg and I are Canadians from the Toronto area. My husband was Manager of Complaints and Discipline at the Ontario College of Teachers and then Director at the College of Early Childhood Educators. I started my career in the French Dept. at the University of Toronto as a researcher of Medieval Dictionaries, had 3 kids now grown with kids of their own, moved out of the city and became a teacher. We have been happily married for 38 years. We have rentals in Canada. We retired and moved to Progreso permanently. We love it here.
We have always loved playing music together, Greg on the violin or viola and myself on the piano.I am passionate about gardening and cooking and Greg loves golf.
I live 24/7 with my Service Dog , Gary who assists me with my epileptic seizures. Gary is not a pet. He is a working dog, even though he is adorable.
on the trip to Vancouver our grown son will be staying with us.

Beskrivning av hemmet vi erbjuda att byta bort
We have an oceanside home in Progreso, Yucatan Mexico. Our private home has one bedrooms, and two washrooms The Master Suite has a king bed and en-suite. We never spend time inside but instead sit under the huge covered verandah that overlooks our garden, the beach and the ocean. We are in need of house sitting from June 26 till approximately Sept. 10 or 17. Duties are to take excellent care of our garden and to feed three delightful beach dogs who live just outside our property with water and food once a day. (The house sitter is only responsible for the main house not the tenants dwellings.)
We also have two newly built rental units on our property, a 2 bedroom with 2 en-suite apartment and a studio apartment. During times that the units are not rented, they could also be made available for exchanges.

Beskrivning av vårt grannskap och omgivning
We are conveniently located just at the western tip of the Progreso Malecon (walking and bicycling boardwalk). It is only a 10-15 minute walk to central Progreso with its three large grocery stores and central market where one can purchase freshly caught fish, local meat, homemade bread, handmade cheese and condiments.Or simply sit down and enjoy a simple, delicious meal from one of the family run lunch bars. Progreso also offers an abundance of bars and nightclubs and restaurants, the more expensive ones along the beach and the just as mouth-watering menus offered in establishments tucked away in the back streets.
Just in need of purchasing a few groceries and don’t feel like going to town? Within a couple of blocks of our property one can find stores that carry fruit, vegetables, cold cuts, a bakery, a hardware store and a hairdresser. There is a restaurant across the street and several within a few blocks. Or one can have a home cooked meal delivered from one of many Cocina Economica (Affordable Kitchen) for usually around 80 pesos ($5.50 Canadian). One meal is often enough to feed two people!
No need for a car when one lives in Progreso. Either walk to town or take the local bus that passes two blocks from our property. Taxis and uber’s are also readily available for a mere 25 pesos from the centre of town to our property.
At the ADO Progreso bus terminal one can catch a bus to many of the outlying towns and to Merida, the largest city in the region. It is a city full of culture, historical architecture, museums, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The outer lying areas of the city have malls to rival any in North America. One even has an indoor skating rink right in the centre! Merida offers everything from 5-star Internarional dining establishments to stores like Costco, Sam’s Club, Starbucks and Home Depot.
The Yucatan is a very safe, beautiful region with many places to visit or explore. There are several Mayan ruins close by, not as big as Chichen Itza, but just as interesting and much less crowded and in more natural settings. The Yellow City of Izamal is a must-see. Cenotes ( natural, pit or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath) abound in the area, inviting people to spend a day picnicking, swimming and relaxing. There are manyHaciendas as well that were built in the time when the production of sisal hemp for rope led to Merida sporting the dubious title of having more millionaires than any other city in the world.
