Chelsea, Quebec is a French/English community, only a 15-minute drive to Ottawa's downtown famous Byward Market, Rideau Canal (a world heritage site) and Parliament Buildings. Our home is ideally located 7 km (each way) between the villages of Chelsea and Wakefield - both stand out tourist attractions. Picturesque Wakefield sits along the Gatineau River and Chelsea is the gateway to our beloved Gatineau Park where many outdoor enthusiasts swim, hike, mountain bike and x-country ski. With all the activities that come with a visit to the National Capital Region, you can also enjoy a leisurely bike ride right from our home along river road to visit Wakefield with its many restaurants/pubs (live music), shops, farmer's market, bakery, sup-board & canoe/kayak rentals and the famous Wakefield Covered Bridge. A short drive south will take you to the village centre of Chelsea that also boasts boutiques, shops, award winning restaurants, mountain bike rentals and the legendary Spa Nordik. Chelsea/Wakefield is a community of many artisans. Take the opportunity to try Quebec's famous Poutine, cheese, maple syrup and traditional tourtièrre. A new Cabane à Sucre and vignoble has recently been built close by. There are many festivals in Ottawa throughout the spring and summer months. In May there is the Tulip Festival, June is the International Jazz Festival, July 1st enjoy Canada's birthday in our nation's capital, July brings you one of the finest Blues Festivals in North America, followed later in the summer by the Chamber music festival and folk festivals - among many others! Two kms away is a grocery store and liquor store. Our local pub/restaurant is one km away. The Casino de Lac Leamy is 15-minutes away. This is a lovely home in a desirable community, for those seeking nature, outdoor activities, fresh air and gorgeous scenery. Families may be interested in the Camp Fortune aerial park (zip-line and walk among the trees), bungee jumping, Parc Omega animal sanctuary, museums of history, civilization, war, aviation, technology and nature, two water parks, professional league baseball, soccer, football and hockey teams/games.
