Ons huis

Beschrijving van het huis dat wij aanbieden voor ruil

Our home is in the NE quadrant of Portland, close to the vibrant downtown area. We are on a lovely, tree-lined block of the Irvington historic neighborhood. The house is spacious throughout, and simply furnished. Our large garage and our kitchen open onto the backyard garden for indoor/outdoor barbecuing and summer relaxing.

On the first floor are a spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, and half bathroom. The second floor has two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and an office. One bedroom has bunk beds, and the other is a large suite with bathroom. Finally, the third floor is a large 600 sq. ft. family room with a bedroom nook with a single bed. There is lots of space for children to play, or stretch out and do yoga.

Here are a few important notes... Our home is simply furnished; we do not have a microwave oven or television, for example. We do have a projector+roku and five-foot-wide fabric screen you can easily set up in the living room to watch Internet-based entertainment, including our Netflix account. Also, although Portland's weather is generally mild right into July, there is always a chance of a warm spell of a few days in June and July, and we do not have air conditioning -- instead we use window fans to cool the bedrooms at night.

We are in the Irvington neighborhood, which is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is known for its elegant old homes and tree-lined streets. Our block has a very good walkability score and an excellent biking score. There are restaurants, coffee shops, a movie theater, and a shopping mall within blocks. It is also quick and easy to get to the vibrant Portland downtown by bus or the MAX (light rail), with bus stops a few blocks from home. Portland's downtown has numerous restaurants, movie theaters, bookstores, and shopping, and has many beautiful turn-of-the-century buildings.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt

In our neighborhood there are several restaurants and coffee shops, and a movie theater and shopping mall. Peet's Coffee is a few blocks away at NE 15th Ave and Broadway. Pizza delivery to the house is available if you don't feel like going out. Our local New Seasons grocery store has amazing meats and produce (1 mile walk, bike, or drive). There is a Safeway grocery store 9 blocks away.

You can travel into other Portland neighborhoods and downtown, where there are countless amazing restaurants. Portland is known for its vibrant restaurant and coffee shop scene.

Portland is located where the Columbia and Willamette rivers come together, which is very beautiful, and allows for boat and kayak rentals. The Columbia Gorge is a one hour road trip to the east, with amazing river views, waterfall hiking, wind surfing, and the tourist town of Hood River. The beach is a 1.5 hour drive to the west, with many lovely tourist beach towns, and surfing, boogie-boarding, and playing in the Pacific Ocean.

We do not wear or allow outdoor shoes in our home. Please remove your shoes in the entryway. (You may like to bring slippers with you to use in the house.) When cooking, please use the exhaust fan over the stove.
