We are a couple of adventurous, travelling retirees with grandchildren in two hemispheres. We now live in Fremantle, the port city of Perth, West Australia, which is a lively, stylish city with all the independent shops, cafes, restaurants you could want and towering above it all is the great wharf of Fremantle, with the world's cruise ships, cargo ships, every kind of ship arriving every day. We love our new home, but we still want to. be able to visit our old home, London, where we lived for 53 years. We plan to make the trip again in June 2024 and stay until mid August with trips to Europe in the middle. Actual dates are June 23rd - July 13th and the August 3rd - 7th/10th/17th - whatever we can find. We are experienced home swappers, so far on other sites, and have found it's wonderful. We stay in charming, comfortable homes owned by equally charming people who have become friends. Of course the huge savings that home swapping offers is vitally important, but we find much more than this. Living like a local, becoming part of the neighbourhood, making new friends from our fellow exchanger 's friends all add to the joy of the trip and when we find exchangers who are our mirror image with grandchildren and children the other side of the world the access to children's toys, books, wants and needs feels so welcoming, not to mention hugely useful. Once we've established contact with prospective exchangers we Skype or Whatsapp or FaceTime and get to know each other. Home Link is new to us. It was recommended by another of our exchanger friends so we thought we should give it a try. It seems wonderfully clear and easy to use, which is a great relief! Please get in touch with us if you fancy a trip of a lifetime to Perth and its surrounding countryside. This is the state with the huge mining deposits, with the great out-back holiday possibilities, with a 17000 km coastline and some of the best kite surfing, surfing, swimming, boating, yachting in the world, along with all the mystery and wonder of one of the oldest land masses in the world.

Double story luxury home in Perth's lively port, Fremantle
We live at the end of a mews, so no through traffic and only birdsong to wake you in the morning, we have four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a spacious living and dining room plus a family area off the kitchen, a study, several balconies and a paved garden filled with colour.

We are a quiet, but friendly neighbourhood, all our neighbours have exchanged phone numbers should any of us need help at any time. Ours is a very pretty part of Fremantle, with mature tree-lined roads, flowery verges and gardens that spill into the street. We are walking distance from a national monument, with wonderful views across the port to the Indian Ocean and in the other direction to the best Italian deli and grocery shop in Fremantle, plus an eclectic assortment of individual shops for food, for clothes, for knick knacks and bit and pieces and just about anything you could want. Fremantle boasts great restaurants, our local bookshop stays open until 9pm each night, there are art galleries and an excellent library and there is also an assortment of super-markets and general stores. We can see the sea from two of our balconies. It's an ideal place to be.

I am passionate about our garden. The large terrace is the colourful area, with lots of pots and exciting shrubs. I love it. We are 10 minutes drive away from several beaches - some more protected, others a bit more open. Fremantle Wharf, with a personality of its own, is walking distance with the best fish and chips in Perth, the Marine Museum, some quirky entertainment venues and a permanent large playground for the kids, including a Ferris wheel are all nearby. One of the prettiest and most iconic hotels in the Perth area is The Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle. A beautiful Federation building, updated into the 21st century, with all the services, bars, restaurants, conference areas you might want.
We have great transport links. Fremantle station is five minutes away and there is a bus service that can get you there near to our home. The City of Perth is half an hour by train and along the way are iconic stops like North Cottesloe, Claremont, Subiaco - all great suburbs with personalities of their own.

Wat we graag willen of wat juist niet...
We are non-smokers and we expect our guests to be the same. We are also very keen that our guests use our cleaner at least once a week or fortnight. She does a top quality job for a very reasonable price. It is also important for us to come back to a shining clean house with everything in place and Olga can be trusted to do this. Obviously, this is at our exchangers' expense. We ask our guests to keep an eye on the garden and, if necessary, water it - and especially the pots on the patio - regularly. Other than that, we like our guests to feel comfortable and at home in our house and respect it the way we would respect their home.
