BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH OUR LISTING, PLEASE KINDLY NOTE THAT STEPHEN IS VERY SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO CATS AND DOGS SO A SWAP INVOLVING A HOME WITH PETS, EVEN IF THEY HAVE BEEN TAKEN AWAY AND AFTER PROFESSIONAL CLEANING, WOULD NOT WORK.
Our villa is located 2 KM inland from the beach at Marina di Modica and a few minutes drive from the beautiful baroque towns of Modica,Scicli and Ragusa. The villa is on a ridge with dramatic 180 degree views over the Mediterranean. Accommodation consists of two double bedded rooms with ensuite bathroom, a large open plan kitchen/dining lounge space, a big terrace and a swimming pool (please note the pool is self maintained so you will have to maintain it during your stay-full instructions provided). The maturing garden includes an olive grove of 26 trees and a pineta of 25 trees plus plenty of Bouganvillea, Oleander, citrus trees and a wide variety of Mediterranean herbs. The villa is furnished in the best modern Italian style and is ideal for a couple.

Beschrijving van onze buurt en omgeving
Ours is a rural neighbourhood with farms on all sides, producing mainly tomatoes, aubergines and zucchini. The farmers are generally friendly and regularly give us their produce. There are several well stocked supermarkets within a 10 minute drive. The fabulous 2 kilometre long Sampieri beach is a 10 minute walk away. There are great restaurants in the local towns of Scicli (10 minutes), Modica (20 minutes) and Ragusa-Ibla (40 minutes), all gorgeous Baroque towns. Generally very quiet, the area becomes a bit busier (at least, down on the coast) during the Italian holiday period (July 15-August 15). Even then, we are well away from the holiday crowds. For fans, we are in the heart of "Montalbano" territory with several film locations on the doorstep.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt
Sicily is probably more packed with layers of history than anywhere in the Med with Carthaginian, Greek, Roman, Saracen, Norman, Gothic and Baroque buildings in plenty. Our area in particular is close to the UNESCO heritage sites of Modica, Noto, Syracuse and Scicli. We are also a ten minute drive from the port of Pozzallo from which ferries depart for Malta most days. Much of the Italian detective series, Montalbano, was shot in our neighbourhood.

Please check our exchange preferences below. Southern Italy is also not well known for infrastructure so you need to be ready for the occasional power outage, bad road conditions and malfunctioning stuff, particularly during the periodic, spectacular thunderstorms. We'll provide a list of trouble shootings and we have a helpful english speaking occasional caretaker who is available to fix stuff. Sadly, he's not great with pools so we/you have to do our own pool maintenance. It's neither complex nor onerous and comprehensive instructions will be provided.
