This was our first experience of being "hosted" and we were a little apprehensive but that was soon forgotten because Dave and Ann struck the right balance between hosting and letting us explore on our own. They were such fun. We laughed so much and within hours we felt like we had known them for years. Their house was modern, clean, bright, quiet and with a fantastic deck overlooking open countryside, the river and the railway line in the distance. I lost count of how many times we saw foxes crossing the lawn and it was a novelty for us to watch the little trains going backwards and forwards. For anyone who thinks that Newport and South Wales is not worth visiting I would say "think again". I loved the museum and art gallery in Newport, the transporter bridge, the market and the pubs. Day trips to Cardiff, Barry Island (think Gavin & Stacey!) Tenby, Hereford, the old coal mining towns, etc. etc. Lovely people, lovely town, lovely area - a great exchange we will never forget.
