We are a professional couple who enjoy travelling and exploring new places. Kelvin is a keen golfer and we both enjoy wandering through forests, laneways, galleries and museums. We also appreciate live theatre, music and good food. As a second generation home exchanger, I loved introducing my own children to the joys of home exchanging.

Beschrijving van onze buurt en omgeving
Riverside Gardens in Douglas is as the name suggests, a quiet tree-lined suburb located beside the Ross River. Our home is located 11kms from the centre of Townsville, an easy 20 minute drive on the ring road into city centre, the Country Bank stadium and the famous Strand Esplanade. We are a short drive from James Cook University, the Townsville University Hospital and Lavarack Barracks. Townsville is also a quick 20 minute ferry ride to beautiful Magnetic Island - an ideal day trip or weekend away. Townsville has direct flights from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Sunshine Coast (Bonza) and Adelaide making an extended long weekend stay quite feasible.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt
Townsville is a hidden gem. It is a university town and Australia’s largest garrison city. Visitors are often surprised with it's size - it's population is currently larger than each of Cairns, Darwin and Ballarat. Located in the dry tropics, Townsville doesn’t experience the excessive humidity most commonly expected in North Queensland and with 300 days of sunshine each year, it is a great place to visit any time of the year. Most rain falls in January and February. Centrally located, Townsville is 4 hours south of Cairns and 3-1/2 hours north of the Whitsundays. Magnetic Island is only a 20 minute ferry ride away and makes a lovely destination for a day trip or weekend break. Townsville is the home of the Museum of Tropical Queensland showcasing natural history, archaeology and the history of northern Queensland. There are a number of museums and galleries and the Billabong Sanctuary wildlife park to the south, and of course, for Rugby League fans, there is Country Bank Stadium.

Wat we graag willen of wat juist niet...
We live in a quiet suburban area so the neighbours do not appreciate loud parties that continue late into the night.
