Our home is in the lovely town of Kendal, only a few minutes drive from the Lake District National Park (Windermere 7 miles, Ambleside 13 miles, Grasmere 17 miles). There are National Trust properties within half an hour, most notably Beatrix Potters home.
Within an hour you can be on the tranquil west coast of Cumbria with access to Wastwater, the Duddon Valley and Ravenglass.

Our house has a great front view of Kendal Castle, a ruined, medieval fortification, reputedly linked to Queen Katherine, the last wife of Henry VIII.

To the rear of the house, beyond some garages, are fields and large trees. The street is a cul-de-sac, so no through traffic.

Kendal has a thriving art centre with daily theatre events and cinema, a museum, an art gallery, a swimming pool, a climbing wall and some very worthwhile restaurants.
