We are two writers who write about the area arts and cultural scene. We prefer to visit places where we won't need a car. Paris, other places in France, Montreal, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon, Vermont and North Carolina are on our wish list--but feel free to contact us from wherever you are.
As our guest, it's our our pleasure to offer you ideas for dining, day trips, shopping, and arts and entertainment options. We are LGBT-friendly and welcome people of all colors and from all backgrounds and countries. We look forward to providing you a safe, comfortable and tranquil ambiance during your special visit to Sarasota!

Beschrijving van het huis dat wij aanbieden voor ruil
Located in the heart of downtown Sarasota, our main home offers three bedrooms, two full baths, two living areas, a dining room and kitchen. The 700-square-foot separate studio features an additional bedroom, living area, bathroom and kitchen. Our yard is completely fenced in, with a courtyard where you can enjoy outdoor grilling or your morning coffee.
The main house has three beds (one queen; one double; one single futon) and a pullout couch that turns into a very comfortable double bed in the TV room, which closes with pocket doors for privacy. So, you can comfortably sleep six people in the main house.
We will have the house professionally cleaned before your arrival with a fresh supply of linens and towels, including beach towels and mats and umbrellas. If you are traveling from afar, it's our pleasure to have basic food items you'll need for when you arrive and we always have a basket of bathroom supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, good soaps, shampoo, sunscreen, etc.) for your use. We know this comes in handy especially if you're traveling from afar. The kitchen will also be stocked and ready for your basic cooking needs. We have a handy guide to our favorite restaurants, galleries, shops, attractions, and nearby places to visit.
If you prefer to just stay in the studio (for one or two people), it's available most of the year, except December 25 through April 10. We would stay in the main house if we can't travel to your home at same time. If you prefer the main house, we can stay in the studio if we can't travel to your home at the same time.
We’re just across the street from Whitaker Park, which runs alongside the glistening waters of Sarasota Bay. It's a half-mile loop for a brisk morning walk or run. There's a fishing pier if you enjoy fishing—and plenty of sea birds and other critters, including dolphin, to watch. The Reserve, a cafe and restaurant, is conveniently across the street. Publix, our main grocery store, is four blocks away; Whole Foods is about 10 blocks away.
We are 10 minutes or less by car from SRQ Airport. We're a five-minute drive to the John Ringling Bridge that takes you to swanky St. Armands Circle with its boutiques and cafes and the glorious sugary white sand beaches of Lido Key. From there you can drive to Longboat Key and discover even more stunning beaches and endless stretches of the pristine Gulf of Mexico.
We may be open to letting you use one of our cars—a two-person Miata—although we prefer to explore places where a car is not needed.

We live in a diverse, urban neighborhood just a five-minute drive from downtown Sarasota's dynamic mix of galleries, antique shops, restaurants and cafes, Whole Foods, Publix, and the lively Saturday Farmer's Market. Bayfront Park, with its bustling marina, meandering walking paths, idyllic picnic spots and waterside restaurants, is a hop, skip and jump away. Just across the street is The Reserve, a fantastic cafe/restaurant. There's a park two blocks away and another park, overlooking gorgeous Sarasota Bay, just across the street.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt
Our home is just a few minutes drive to a host of theaters and performing spaces, including Sarasota Opera, Florida Studio Theatre, and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and Ringling College of Art and Design. Just 10 minutes north is The Ringling Museum, Sarasota Ballet, Asolo Rep, New College of Florida and the University of South Florida. And beach lovers are a five-minute drive from the John Ringling Causeway, which leads to St. Armands Circle, Lido Beach and the scenic drive to Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. There's a park two blocks away and another park, overlooking gorgeous Sarasota Bay, just across the street.
Wat we graag willen of wat juist niet...
If you are traveling with a dog, please tell us about your dog (breed, size, special needs) before we accept your reservation. While you are in our home, we will board our Westhighland terrier. We are also open to the idea that, if you have a dog, we could exchange caring for yours while you care for ours. We have a fully fenced-in yard, which makes it easier.
Smoking is not allowed inside the main house or studio. You may smoke outside in the courtyard.
No one, aside from the people we exchange with, will be allowed in our home without written permission.
We are very open to your staying in our guest studio for non-sim stays. The studio fits two adults comfortably.
High on our list is France (prefer an urban area), Montreal, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon, Vermont, Alaska and North Carolina but we’re also open—so feel free to inquire.
