Von unserem Ortsteil Overath-Heiligenhaus gibt es eine Bus-/Straßenbahnverbindung nach Köln und zum Bahnhof in Overath, von wo es eine weitere regelmäßige Anbindung mit dem Zug zum HBf Köln gibt.
Köln bietet neben dem Weltkulturerbe Kölner Dom viele attraktive Besichtigungsmöglichkeiten wie die mittelalterliche Altstadt mit zahlreichen Brauhäusern, Restaurants und Bars, die herausragenden romanischen Kirchen, viele bedeutende Museen und Galerien, neuerdings wieder stark beachtete Beispiele stilbildender 60er Jahre Architektur und eine große Fußgängerzone mit vielfältigen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Entspannungsmöglichkeiten bieten sich am Ufer des Rheins z.B. im Rheinpark auf der rechten Rheinseite oder auf einem der Rheinschiffe oder im Kölner Zoo oder im Stadtwald.

Ausflugsmöglichkeiten : Altenberger Dom mit angrenzendem altmodischem, aber sehr beliebtem Märchenwald( 25km); Freilichtmuseum Lindlar (12km ) Weltkulturerbe Schloss Brühl mit dem Freizeitpark Phantasialand in der Nähe( 30km) ; ebenfalls nur 30km entfernt die ehemalige Bundeshauptstadt Bonn und das Siebengebirge mit dem bekannten romantischen Drachenfels. Sehr attraktiv ist auch eine Schifffahrt auf dem Rhein auf der romantischen Strecke zwischen Koblenz und Bingen vorbei an alten Burgen und der Loreley (Weltkulturerbe).Andere interessante Städte:Frankfurt (1,5 St);Heidelberg (3 St); Amsterdam (4 St); Brüssel( 2 St) Paris (4 St)

Our home is in the village Overath-Heiligenhaus on direct bus link and on rail link (station 3 km in Overath) to the City of Cologne. Heiligenhaus has about 3000 inhabitants. lt's a part of the Bergisches Land'. „Bergisches Land“ is an romantic hilly landscape. Everything here blends harmoniously with nature. Wood, rivers and meadows together with the hill predominate this landscape.. There are 8 man-made reservoirs in the Bergisches Land which are special centres of attraction for leisure hours.
Cologne is a City in which you can find your way around in no time. A real centre around the Cathedral. A tour of discovery starts there: Into the pedestrian's paradise Hohe Strasse, Schildergasse, for instance. Or into the Old Town Center. Into the many and famous Romanesque churches which surround the Citv. Into the museums. Wherever you go you will see the towers of the Cathedral showing you the way back. The Gothic architecture aspiring to the heavens is second to none of the world. Inside, the Cathedral is breathtaking, the tremendous height, the magnificant windows, the treasures, foremost among them the Shrine of the three Magi. Cologne is one of the most important cities of the arts in Germany, with 9 municipal and many private museums, 120 private galleries, a rmunicipial art gallery, an opera house and many theaters. And a university town too: in 1988 Ihe university celebrated its 600th anniversary. In the ,Altstadt', close to the Rhine, there is a l9th century atmosphere; romantic nooks and crannies at every turn, pubs, bars, ale-houses, waited to be photographed.
Near Cologne there is the fun park Phantasialand with riding attractions.
Only 25 km away: Bonn, and the ,Seven Mountains'.
The ,Drachenfels' is the best known of the Seven Mountains ( 400 mtrs). Some 3 million visitors come here from all over Ihe world and ,conquer' it on foot, by Germany's oldest rack railway, by horse-drawn carriage or on the back of a donkey. In this area the Rhine and its wines have always belonged together. lt's the most northerly wine-growing area in Germany. Very attractive is a tour by boat on the romantic Rhine between the cities Koblenz and Bingen with its many castles and ruins and the legendary Loreley (worldheritage). Other interessting cities, not far away: Frankfurt 1,5h, Heidelberg 3h, Amsterdam 4h, Brussels 3h, Paris 4h by train.
