We are both retired (Sonia worked at the University of Padua and I was a general surgeon in a nearby hospital). We are in our sixties. We don’t smoke.
We have been joining Home Link for the last 24 years and arranged a lot of successfully home exchanges (more than 50) in USA (New York, Los Angeles, Malibu and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida) and Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Spain, Switzerland and Italy).

The apartment features a bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a double sofa bed and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, a bathroom with a shower and a washing machine.
Located in Costa Adeje, the Orlando Tenerife complex offers two outdoor swimming pools for adults and one for children, a bar, a tennis court, direct views from the terrace of the ocean and the island of La Gomera. The property offers sea views and is 500 meters from Torviscas beach (a 5-minute walk) and 2 km from Aqualand and Siam Park (two beautiful water parks).
The nearest airport is Tenerife South Airport, 16 km from Orlando Tenerife (20 minutes by motorway).

Beschrijving van onze buurt en omgeving
The island's environment invites a lot of relaxation but since you have time I highly recommend that you do at least these 3 excursions:
1. The Teide volcano at more than 2000 meters with a lunar landscape not to be missed! You can take the public bus behind the house which takes you to the refuge (Parador in Spanish) at the top for a winding but absolutely panoramic road or you can go there by car. You will pass through coniferous forests to the ancient crater with ancient lava flows (lunar landscape!), Where you can take beautiful walks. At the refuge you can eat. Bring warm clothing as it can get cold (unlike Playa where it is always hot). ABSOLUTELY NOT TO BE MISSED !!
2. Loro Parque in Puerto de La Cruz to the north. It is a beautiful park with lush vegetation, where they perform shows with seals, dolphins, killer whales and trained parrots, really very beautiful! In agencies they sell the full package entrance ticket + bus journey (over an hour). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
3. The capital of Santa Cruz in the north, lively city with a pleasant center and then from there by tram you arrive in San Cristobal de la Laguna, the oldest city in Tenerife with a rich historic center. You can admire buildings and monuments from the 15th century.
In Santa Cruz, the Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre is interesting with the mummies of the ancient Guanchi, the mysterious populations that preceded the arrival of the Spaniards, while in La Laguna, visit the Casa Lercaro Museum. On Friday and Saturday afternoon, admission is free to all museums. Santa Cruz can be easily reached by bus in about an hour. It could be cold in La Laguna so be careful with your clothing. RECOMMENDED to admire the history and see how local people live in a completely different environmental context from the south where tourists go.
Other excursions are Masca, Punta del Teno, La Candelaria, Santiago del Teide, Los Gigantes, Playa San Juan, Buenavista del Norte, Monti de Anaga, San Andres with Playa de Las Teresitas, Los Cristianos, Los Abrigos, El Medano, etc. etc.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt
From the pedestrian gate of the car park you can easily reach, even on foot, the “San Eugenio” Shopping Center where you will find a well-stocked MERCADONA supermarket (excellent fresh fish counter!) As well as many shops and restaurants.
If you have a car, you can park under the supermarket with the first hour free, remembering to ask for the voucher at the supermarket checkout when paying to use it in the automatic parking machine.
Leaving the rear car park, turning right, in front of the Hotel Villa de Adeje Beach, you will find the stop for the free shuttle bus that takes you to the beautiful Siam Mall with elegant shops and restaurants.
There are many restaurants in the area of all tastes (English, German, Italian, Chinese, Indian, etc.) to satisfy all nationalities. Read the menus always displayed and ........ try!
A must-try restaurant is called “El Gomero” (Tel. 922750713). It is found passing by the central bus station and then to the Magma Congress Center. You can find it on the right before the roundabout in the "Las Terrazas" building (there are several restaurants, make no mistake!). Try for example the grilled grouper, the Roman-style calamari or, to order, the rabbit, a local dish. Unbeatable value for money! At the end, drink the excellent local coffee called Barraquito (coffee, condensed milk, liqueur, lemon and cinnamon).
Another restaurant to try is "La Gran Paella Valenciana", from the C.C. San Eugenio down Calle Gran Bretana to the roundabout overlooking the sea on the right. Not paella but try the grilled fish (“parillada de pescado”). They give you large portions so it is recommended to order only one portion for two people.
Another restaurant for grilled meat in a very characteristic place is "El Cordero". The address is Carretera General at Galletas 8, Guargacho. When you arrive you see a huge hedge carved like a lamb (el cordero, in fact).
An excellent pizzeria is located in Los Cristianos in Calle del Valle Menéndez, 20. It is called “Oro di Napoli”.
