I am an architect running his my business and Brenda is a retired community development worker.
We have 3 sons, one living and working in Madrid, one completing a Phd at Queens University Belfast, and the third studying at York University in Toronto. All sons have partners.
We usually holiday as a couple but as when possible we holiday with our children and their partners.

Ons huis
Beschrijving van het huis dat wij aanbieden voor ruil
Our Italian holiday home is a converted 19th century barn, once the local priest's barn. It sits in a garden with lovely views of the valley we sit above. The house has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom, but downstairs the living area has a bed settee with a screen if more sleeping space required. There is a well equipped kitchen with a covered terrace for outside dining. The house has many of the original features such as exposed stone and timber beams. The garden has a good sized patio for relaxing and sunbathing, there is an umbrella for shade in the summer. Parking is just up the road in the village piazza.

Beschrijving van onze buurt en omgeving
Partigliano is a small medieval village only 4km up the mountain after turning off the main road between Lucca and Borgo a Mozzano. The village has a bar and community hall open at weekends. A car is needed, the last part of the drive is up a narrow road with many corners, but well maintained. The village 2km below is Valdottavo. It has 3 grocery stores, a pharmacy, two bars one with a pizzeria. At the roundabout where you turn off the main road for the villages, there are two good restaurants. There are many lovely walks in the area and one from the door around the local valley. Borgo a Mozzano 8 kms away has a lovely public swimming pool, and tours around the Gothic Line a wall built by the Nazi's across the north of Italy. This area was occupied during the war.

Onze tips voor leuke activiteiten en uitjes bij ons in de buurt
The house is in a very peaceful mountainous area with a pretty garden and terrace to relax and sunbathe in. There are lovely walks all around. The beautiful walled town of Lucca is only a 20 minute drive, the birthplace of Puccini, and is brimming with history, museums, churches, and classical music. In July Lucca has a Music Festival where musicians such as Elton John, James Taylor, Norah Jones and Stevie Wonder have played. In August there is a Puccini festival at Torre de Lago featuring operas. This is near the Art Deco seaside town of Viareggio. The mountain town of Barga is 45 minutes away -the most Scottish town of Tuscany - with wonderful views of the Apuan Alps and the Appenines. Coreglio a Tuscan village where plaster figurine making was refined, many migrants taking their skills to New York in the 1920's. The ski resorts of Abetone and Cutligano keep their ski lifts running in the summer for hikers and tourists.
The Unesco World Heritage area of Cinque Terre is approximately one and a half hours by car.
It is possible to do a day trip by train from Lucca to Florence, or stay overnight to see the sights.

We expect the house to be left as it was found.
This swap for 2019 we are hoping to get our 3 adult sons and their partners together with us in Canada, so we are looking for a 4 bedroom house to fit 8. Hopefully 2 centres (one week in or near Toronto and the next week somewhere like Tobermory or Alcoquin)) As our houses are smaller we are happy to consider a longer stay at one of our homes or two weeks in either.
