La Chavanne is a small village ideally located at 20 min from Chambéry (city with a beautiful historical centre from the medieval period), 30 min from Albertville (Olympic city in 1992), 40min from Grenoble (Olympic city in 1968), 1H from Annecy (the little Venice of the Alps) and 1H from Lyon (capital of the Gaules). The location allows you to take advantage of the many natural lakes in the region, such as the magnificent Lac du Bourget (the largest natural lake in France) only 25 minutes away, Lac d'Aiguebelette 25 minutes away, Lac d'Annecy 1 hour away, or the Carouge lake (with its "Pavillon Bleu" label) and Lac de St André 15 minutes from the house. The Wam Parc (wakeboard, paddle, inflatable games) is 20 minutes from the house. At 45 minutes you will find two acrobranching courses in La Féclaz, a ski resort (cross-country and downhill) or in Lescheraines.
The house is at the foot of 3 mountain ranges; Belledonne, Chartreuse and Bauges, the former being regional nature parks. There are many beautiful walks, mountain bike rides and road bike rides directly from the house. The nearest ski resorts are 45 minutes away by car (7 Laux, Collet d'Allevard, etc). We are one hour from the 3 Valleys, the resorts of the Maurienne, Tarentaise and Beaufortain valleys.
For those who enjoy cultural discoveries, the museums and heritage of the Dukes of Savoy are waiting for you in the spa town of Aix-les-Bains, in Annecy, in Geneva or in nearby Chambéry. A large market takes place every Saturday morning in Chambéry; atmosphere guaranteed! Chambéry has several very good restaurants to enjoy Savoyard gastronomy.
In the town of Montmélian, 2 kms from the house, there are supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, a tobacconist, a cinema and an outdoor swimming pool, open from June to September, with an Olympic size pool and a small children’s pool. One kilometre from the house, two fruit and vegetable producers offer their organic products for direct sale. We are a few kilometres from the vineyards of the Savoie region where you can taste the local wines.
