Hello,
We are a couple (Brian and Laura) in their late 30s, who live in Vancouver, in beautiful British Columbia. We are both born and raised in Vancouver, and its surrounding suburbs. We both work as high school teachers in Vancouver.
Laura and her family grew up doing home exchanges through Homelink, and that is how we found out about it. She went with her parents on her first home exchange at the age of 2, and continued going on exchanges throughout her teenage years.
We like to travel, and we have been on a few trips together to parts of Europe, Asia, and South America.
We are both active; we enjoy running, cycling, swimming, and racquet sports (both of us), as well as snowboarding & skiing (Laura).
We are big animal lovers, and we have a small dog (miniature pinscher-dachshund mix). He will stay with our family in Vancouver when we do a home exchange, so he won't be there in the apartment.

Beschrijving van het huis dat wij aanbieden voor ruil
Our home is a one-bedroom/one-bathroom apartment facing the sunny side of the building (south-east facing) on the top floor (3rd floor). Our home can accommodate up to two adults.
Our home is situated in one of the best areas of Vancouver. We are very close to multiple transit lines that are only a block away (Broadway), or a few blocks away (Burrard Street, 4th Avenue), and we are very close to the downtown area (short bus ride over the bridge).
Our apartment is close to Kitsilano Beach (roughly 12 blocks away), one of the best beaches in Vancouver (and maybe one of the best in Canada). Kitsilano Beach is also home to Kitsilano Pool, a long, outdoor pool with amazing views of the beach, North Shore Mountains, and Downtown Vancouver.
There are many grocery stores to choose from in the area in all directions, which are all about a 5-10 minute walk away. Our home is also close to small boutique shops in Kitsilano (on 4th Avenue) and large stores in the downtown area.
There are many different coffee shops nearby (within 5 blocks). There are also many indoor fitness gyms for exercising close by (big community centre, and many small privately owned gyms).
The area of east Kitsilano contains everything from single family homes to many three-story apartment buildings and up to 12-story apartment buildings nearby. The area is generally quiet and residential, although if you walk one to four blocks away, you will have stores, transit, and everything at your disposal.
Our building has both stairs and an elevator very close by to the apartment door. The laundry room is found in the basement (accessible by elevator) - there is no in-suite laundry.
In terms of size, our apartment is 641 square feet/60 square metres (inside), and 74 square feet/7 square metres (balcony). Our building was built in 1972, but the apartment and building has undergone many renovations, including a new roof just last year.

Beschrijving van onze buurt en omgeving
Our neighbourhood is generally quiet and a good place for people who like to be active/do sports, or for people who like to be very close to the beach/downtown. Many people in our neighbourhood are into running, hiking, cycling, tennis, skiing/winter sports, stand-up-paddleboarding, etc.
The neighbourhood is very accessible by foot/walking, and also by transit. You can take transit almost anywhere as Kitsilano is near major bus routes. They are also building a metro/skytrain station 1.5 blocks away (it won't be finished until 2025).
In terms of demographics, our neighbourhood is known for having a large range of ages (many young people in their 20s and 30s live here, and we also have many seniors).
