Our apartment is in a complex of about 140 apartments situated at Rushcutters Bay in Central Sydney. The complex was voted 'best residential scheme in the world for 2002' at the World Architectural Awards. The building has 24/7 concierge, spa, 25m lap and paddling pools - all heated, separate cardio and weights gyms and full-time building management.
The location in Kings Cross Rd is an easy, mainly flat walk of around 15/20 minutes from the Sydney Town Hall/CBD. The main art galleries, museum and Circular Quay (ferries, Harbour Bridge, Opera House) are all within reasonably comfortable walking distances - 15 to 30 mins. The metro/train station and local bus route is a block away. There is a major supermarket within 200m.
Kings Cross Rd is on the edge of the Kings Cross 'entertainment precinct'. We are literally surrounded by restaurants, cafes, clubs, pubs and bars. Rushcutters Bay & Elizabeth Bay Parks, on the harbour's edge, are a 10-minute walk. Sydney Airport is a 15-25min drive (motorway access and egress is within 500m of our building). Bondi Beach is a few suburbs away - around a 15 minute drive.
The views to the north include Sydney harbour from the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House to The Heads and Manly. The views to the south look over Paddington to Botany Bay.
Our apartment has 3 double bedrooms although one functions as an office. Both dedicated bedrooms have king beds. The office has a double bed-sofa which is usable (and is used as a spare bed. The apartment has air-conditioning in the main living areas. There are glass doors to the north and south which slide back to create a total indoor/outdoor living space. Our apartment has Wi-Fi. We have two large bathrooms, with two showers and a bath and a separate laundry with washer and dryer.
We are recently retired and are open to suggestions but our primary targets are North and South America and Europe. Happy to contemplate swaps within Australia.
