Jim is a retired Military officer. Carol is a Silver Jewelry & Fused Glass Artist We raised 6 children while living in many locations, both in the USA and abroad. Now we often travel off our Hawaiian island and have informally exchanged homes with long time friends several times. The total success of those home exchanges spurred us into joining Home Link. This exchange program is working extremely well for us.

We had such a wonderful time at Jim and Carol´s Big Island house. There were so many lovely areas to enjoy--the backyard hot tub with the avocado tree overhead, the lovely lanai with an ocean sunset view, the cozy hammocks, and more. Jim and Carol left everything we could want for a perfect Hawaii stay--boogie boards, snorkel gear, local beer, juices and honey. They were great to work with in setting up the exchange, and very helpful with lots of great local tips. Mahalo!

A convenient 6 min. from the airport & 20 min from Restaurant Row on Kailua Bay in Kailua-Kona. 3 thousand sq. ft. indoors plus 1,500 sq. ft. total for 3 lanais.
Each duplex level has its own full kitchen, open concept living dining area, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths & laundry. You choose which level you wish to stay in. Hillside ocean view location allows full sized windows and sliding doors on both lower and upper levels. On the lower level the bunk room is a tremendous hit with kids of all ages but also works well for an adult couple sleeping on the bottom queen bed. Then 4 twin sized bunks will still be available for sleeping kids as well. On each level the master bedroom connects to a spaceous master bathroom. The Hot Tub is of course available no mater which level you decide to stay on. Meals on any of the lanais are always memory makers for our guests and past house exchangers. Convenient to the island's best beaches and activities. Gorgeous Makalei Golf Course is 5 min. from the front door. Our house is in the perfect location for island touring. Adult and kid friendly home.

A typical Hawaiian neighborhood, close but not too close to groceries, shopping etc. As an Islander I chose it because it we love living so near some of Hawaii's very best beaches.

Minutes from tropical mountain hiking trails and ancient Hawaiian beach trails. A multitude of golf courses and beaches to choose from are less than 45 min. away. Night dive with manta rays or snorkel with Hawaiian green turtles or dolphins. Zip line over gorges and through the jungle. Brose art galleries, tour coffee farms, visit ancient Hawaiian villages, see our Volcano, and 2 National parks.

Ours is a non smoking house and yard.

If we are in residence we can host sea kayaking excursions with our 2 large kayaks. Otherwise our paddle
boards and kayaks are not to be used by guests. We have a generous selection of beach equipment that will be available for guest use.

Due to our tropical location kitchen trash must be removed daily to the outside trash cans.

Upstairs kitchen pots must stay upstairs for use on the induction stove top only. Downstairs Kitchen pots will not work on the upstairs induction stove top.

Otherwise we expect all our guests to
relax and enjoy our home and our island.
