The Apartment is situated right between English Garden and Olympic Park, close to city center. Maxvorstadt is one of the most beautiful and most popular quarters in Munich. This area north of the city center is characterized by majestic classical buildings, especially between Odeonsplatz, Königsplatz, and Ludwigstraße with the large university buildings. Here you can find the city's big universities: Ludwig-Maximilians-University with its impressive main building on Ludwigstraße, the Academy of Fine Arts only a few meters away, and finally the Technical University in the immediate vicinity of the Pinakotheken. This is where the museum quarter begins, with its numerous world-famous exhibitions all located within walking distance of each other. With its mix of higher education and cultural institutions, Maxvorstadt forms the artistic and intellectual heart of the city. However, that doesn't mean that you have to miss out on Munich's characteristic coziness. A mixture of posh and collegiate flair makes Maxvorstadt so special and lively. Due to its rich history, Schwabing is one of Munich's most famous areas. Even today, it still lives on its reputation as Bohemian and artist's district, which it earned in the late 19th century. Back then, many artists and creatives settled down in Schwabing, amongst them such big names as Thomas Mann and Wassily Kandinsky. Over the course of several decades, they shaped the quarter into a retreat for nonconformists and creatives from all over the world.
