We live in a port city that sees itself as a gateway to the world. No wonder we like to travel, curious about new cities and landscapes. We like to hike, through meadows and museums. We like to cook and eat. We like wine and hills. And are interested in languages and literature, architecture and art - and religion. Because that is our profession. Jochen (56 years old) trains religious education teachers and develops concepts for the religious education of tomorrow, Katharina (57 years old) is a pastor, trains volunteer preachers in winter and takes care of vacationers on the Baltic Sea coast in summer. We have three adult children (22,22 and 25) who are scattered around the world and come to visit us on vacation when the time is right. We were homelinking with our whole family several times early in the 2000's to Paris and Vienna, now we are back are back to homelink as a couple. Our main travel times are March and October, because Katharina has no vacation in the summer. Sometimes our apartment is empty then anyway, so we can also swap asynchronously.

Beskrivelse av hjemmet vi tilbyr å bytte bort
Hamburg might have less inhabitants than Berlin but the second largest city of Germany is definitely more beautiful. Our apartment is a great place to enjoy the metropolitan atmosphere of the harbour-city and an ideal starting point to explore the great variety of museums, city-quarters, shopping-opportunities and the day and night life of the city and northern Germany. It’s an hour drive to the North and the Baltic Sea and 1,5h to Berlin by train.
Our appartment was finished in 2003 and is located in a small street. We built the whole house together with 19 other families therefore we all know us very well and it is very easy (if you wish) to find contact to our welcoming neighbours. We share a common backyard where you can play table-soccer and table tennis. Besides the big playgrounds in the Stadtpark there are some more normal-sized in the vicinity, the neighbourhood is kid-friendly.
The apartment is at the third flour and is very bright, the sun fills it through its great window-front and ceiling-windows. But it’s never getting really hot since there is almost always a constant brise coming to Hamburg from the North-Sea. The apartment offers everything you need to live here for four up to six or seven persons: We have a 40sqm interconnected kitchen and dining-room where you can cook and dine, chat and play. Our balcony (from where you look into the Stadtpark) is a great place to have breakfasts, to read during the afternoons under the awning and enjoy sun-set. There are four additional rooms. Each has a bed and a place to work: one solid bed is 1,80 m broad, another 1,40 m, the third room has a convertible sofa of 1,40m and the forth has a single bed-sofa of 0,80m. There is a spare matress to sleep on the floor. Our bathroom has a tube, a separate shower and a WC, and there is a second separate WC. All rooms are so quiet that you may sleep with open windows. All rooms have a ADSL-flatrate internet LAN-connection and WLAN-access. All normal technical stuff you need is available. (TV, radio, washingmaschine, dishwasher etc.)

Beskrivelse av vårt nabolag og området rundt
We live centrally located - but very quiet - in Winterhude just a 7 min walk to a subway-station of the inner-city circle-line which brings you in 15 to 20 min to downtown Hamburg, the harbour, the booming Hafencity with its many new museums and buildings, and very convenient to all the other parts of Hamburg. The immediate surrounding of our apartment makes the daily life quite easy: It’s a 10min walk to the largest park (“Stadtpark”) with many playgrounds and sporting opportunities, including an outdoor swimming pool and a marvellous planetarium with one of the most modern projectors of the world, mini-gulf, beergarden and various cafés. You find lots of shops, cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants within 10min walking distance, also a cinema and the “art factory” Kampnagel, a center for modern dance and international theatre. You can rent canoes at a close-by canal and explore large parts of the city by boat (but take care of some Venetian Gondolas crossing your way…) or enjoy the city by bicycle since most of the streets have special bicycle pathways and there are no hills to climb. There are many boats and ferries on the inner-city Lake Alster or the Elbe, going as far as the island Helgoland in the middle of the North-Sea. By car you need 40min to Lübeck and the Baltic Sea, an hour to the Lake district in the east of the city and 1,5 hour to St-Peter-Ording at the North Sea. Many other of the northern German cities are easy to reach by train or car.
