I now live in two countries, the Netherlands and England, after a life of living abroad.
My English home is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Dutch home is in the old city of Zaltbommel on the river Waal [Rhine]. Our two daughters live and work in England.
The Yorkshire cottage has been let as a holiday cottage for years. Currently I am spending more time there myself, but for 2022 exchanges are possible, especially from mid-August through to mid-October. I tend to favour 2 week exchanges, but everything is flexible. I am on my own, but for the exchanges I expect at times to be joined by members of my family, which could be anything from 1 extra person to 4 extra persons.
The house in the Netherlands will be on the books from April 2022 when I have made things ready there. It is a lovely spacy house in the middle of a historic river town in central Holland.

Thornton Rust is a small Dales village nestling among the hills; the river Ure flows below it and the moors rise above. This is prime walking country in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and you can start fabulous walks right from the doorstep. There are about 9 or 10 other villages dotted about the dale in easy reach with shops, pubs & restaurants, as well as two National Park Centres and a Dales Museum, within a 5 - 10 minute drive.

The spectacular Aysgarth Falls are at walking distance from the cottage. Castle Bolton, where Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned, is close by, as is Middleham medieval Town and Castle. The Lake District is an 75 minute drive to the West. The imposing Fountains Abbey and gorgeous Studley Royal Gardens are an hour away. York City is a 90 minute drive away.

Children are welcome but the house is not really suitable for children under age 7. One small well-behave pet is welcome, but may not go into the field when there are sheep or lambs there. Please treat house and garden with respect and leave as clean and tidy as you found it.
There is space for one car in the drive, but we should point out that the drive is narrow, and that we always park our car in front of the house on the road.
