Our home is in the quiet rural area of Wylam in the Tyne Valley about 12 miles west of Newcastle. The house is a mid size Victorian terrace house over 3 floors next to the river Tyne, there is a small garden to the front and a rear private courtyard garden. Over the years the
house has been modernised and includes all modern conveniences.
Adjacent are national walking and cycling trails which provide traffic free access to Newcastle and the wider network of National and Regional trails.
The local rail station is about 200m away linking to the East Coast mainline at Newcastle and the West Coast mainline at Carlisle.Newcastle 15mins, Carlisle 80min and from Newcastle, Durham is 30 minutes, York and Edinburgh are within a 2 hours by train.
The Northumberland National Park is 30minutes by car with spectacular sections of Hadrian's wall. The Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks are within 2 hours. The North Pennines AONB, described at England's last wilderness is about 25 miles away, attractions include rugged walking and cycling trails, and High Force, England's highest waterfall located next to the Pennine Way national walking trail.
The Northumbrian Coast with miles of sandy beaches, the castles of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Dunstonbrugh, Warkworth and the beautiful island and castle of Lindisfarne are within an hours drive.
Newcastle is the cultural centre for the region with Theatres, Art Galleries, Cinemas, Museums and The Sage concert venue. There is also a vibrant nightlife with Pubs and restaurants along the quayside. Major shopping outlets are located in Eldon Square and the Metro Centre.
Wylam has local shops, 4 Pubs serving meals and a Bistro. It also has the birthplace museum of George Stephenson world famous as the father of the railways after whom our terrace is named.

We live in a small friendly village, with shops, post office , tea shop and restaurants. Lots of walks and cycle rides within minutes of house.

Our house overlooks the River Tyne and easy access to riverside walks with lot of wild life, herons, kingfishers ,otters and more. Wylam has traditional pubs,tea shop and restaurant within 5min walk.
A 15min train journey will take you into Newcastle for sightseeing or onward travel north to Scotland ,South to Durham,York and beyond .
An hours drive will take you to the Northumberland Coast and castles , Hadrians wall,Durham City and dales. The Lake District is about a 2 hour drive.
