We (David and Gillian) are retired business professionals, originally from England but living in Vancouver since 1969. We are non-smoking and prefer a non-smoked-in exchange home. We are experienced travellers and exchangers, starting when our children (now grown & married with children of their own) were young, in the days of printed catalogues, long before the Internet! We sometimes travel with a couple from the UK, friends of our own age, but would of course advise you if this were the case.
Since we retired, we travel as much as we can, to satisfy each of our Big Passions. David's Big Passion is HAM (Amateur) Radio, which takes us every March to the island of Curacao. This is where I expanded my enjoyment of snorkelling into a severe case of Scuba addiction! Having not been brave enough to try this amazing experience until I was 69, I am now trying to catch up on all the wasted years by diving anywhere and everywhere I get the opportunity! So far I have enjoyed the underwater life locally in Vancouver, but also in Curacao, Italy, Israel, Mexico, and most recently, in Pondicherry, India. While I am under the water, David is usually "on the air" pursuing *his* Passion! Anything to do with Radios or Computers will keep him happy for HOURS!!

Beskrivelse av vårt nabolag og området rundt
West Vancouver is a quiet residential neighbourhood considered by us and many others to be the very best part of Vancouver. We are experienced exchangers, our first exchange being in 1987, long before the days of Internet! Our home is bright, spacious and comfortable; traditional styling with 4 bedrooms upstairs (2 with full ensuite bathrooms), separate living and dining rooms, and open-plan kitchen/family room. The property is large and private, west facing and very sunny, with a creek running through the back of the garden. We have a large fish pond and lots of visiting wild-life. The street is quiet and secluded, yet only a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants, galleries, parks, the ocean and beaches. It is a 25 minute car-ride to downtown Vancouver - well, OK, 40 minutes if you insist on traveling during the morning and evening business "rush-hour"times! There is a bus within a couple of blocks if you prefer not to drive, and buses get priority into the Downtown area.
From Vancouver, one can travel easily to the Okanagan (a semi-desert area somewhat like Northern California) or to the Rocky Mountains. Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands are accessible by ferry. If you are inclined to visit the American part of the Pacific Northwest, it is about 3 hours to Seattle and we have several regular exchange contacts in that delightful city. Our home is large and well-suited to non-simultaneous exchanges, should you wish to visit here at a different time. When here, you can be as involved or as separate from us as you wish, although we do enjoy showing visitors around our lovely city!

Hva vi liker, hva vi ikke liker ... Her er våre preferanser og husordensregler.
Children are welcome , but as we have a large fish pond and a creek in our yard, young children MUST NOT be left unattended in the garden. We do not mind if you are travelling with a small and well-behaved pet. Smoking NOT allowed inside the house or on any deck. Please take your cigarettes to the bottom of the garden - there is a gazebo there in case of rain.
