La très belle et typique maison de Joan et Denis se trouve au départ de la route du bord de mer, à Kinsale, une adorable ville portuaire pleine de charme avec ses maisons colorées, ses pubs, ses églises, ses commerçants souriants et sympathiques, sans oublier ses délicieux Fish and chips au pied de Charles Fort. Tout ce dont nous avions besoin pour découvrir cette magnifique région était à notre disposition à notre arrivée chez Joan et Denis, un savoureux repas nous attendait même. C’est un emplacement idéal pour découvrir la côte sud et sud-ouest de l’Irlande et admirer ses paysages marins. Les moments forts de nos dix jours : Kinsale sans aucun doute mais aussi toute cette côte sauvage et découpée où le vert se marie aux eaux tumultueuses de l’océan. La péninsule de Dingle et sa route spectaculaire qui serpente le long de la côte, ses plages de sable fin et ses falaises escarpées offrant des paysages magnifiques, la plage de Coumeenoole et ses vues envoûtantes sur les îles Blasket et le col de Conor. La ville de Cork et son célèbre marché anglais avec son pittoresque et délicieux restaurant à l’étage. Le paisible port de Cobh et son Lusitania Museum. Nous avons passé deux jours dans le comté de Clare pour visiter les Cliffs of Moher et randonner sur le fabuleux plateau de Burren, merveille de la nature et zone géologique unique. Et nous terminé notre escapade dans la baie de Bantry. Mais surtout, nous avons découvert les Irlandais, sympathiques, souriants, toujours prompts à vous aider. Nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir à séjourner chez Joan et Denis, tout était impeccablement parfait, impeccablement propre et beaucoup de plaisir aussi à retrouver notre maison aussi propre que nous l’avions laissée. We had a wonderful time at Denis and Joans home as it was so central and easy to drive to so many places. We went to Clonakilty black pudding factory, Skibbereen museum, Cobh heritage centre, walking tour, Blarney castle and did another local walking tour with Barry in Kinsale. We learnt so much history about the famine, the Titanic, the sinking of the Lusitania, the memorial garden for 9/11 and walked around Charles Fort and other country walks. We came home for a rest!

Our exchange with Joan and Denis went smoothly. The contact with them before, during and after the exchange was very pleasant. There was good coordination about car exchange and long-term parking. We really enjoyed the attractive house in Kinsale. We have taken great pleasure in taking care of the house, garden and plants. Our diet was taken into account on arrival, everything was available to give us a warm welcome. Kinsale is a very pleasant town and from Waterlands there are many opportunities to go out and discover Ireland. We have closed Ireland in our hearts forever. The people everywhere are friendly and helpful, like Joan and Denis. During the warm, dry period of the exchange, they went to great lengths and took perfect care of our garden! We had a memorable exchange experience with Joan and Denis.They were wonderful hosts and their home was spotless and welcoming. Kinsale is a friendly, vibrant and historic town with great cafes, restaurants and craft shops. We had lovely scenic walks and cycles and even a little relaxed people watching time.! Kinsale is ideally located for exploring other parts of Cork and for us the whole Beara Peninsula was a revelation in scenic beauty. Many thanks from Mary and Johnny.

We loved staying at Waterlands! It was spacious and comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen. We loved the welcoming flowers and the excellent meal and breakfast fixings. It was a great location for exploring, with Kinsale and the local walks just a 10 minute walk away, and many interesting drives and historic sites to visit as day trips. Denis and Joan were fabulous hosts, providing many books and maps, which were extremely handy. A highlight of the trip was Joan's soda bread, which cannot be matched-- and we are very grateful for the recipe! Thank you for allowing us to feel that we had a "home away from home". We will always have many happy memories of our visit.

VERY COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATION AND SITUATION IN AN OUTSTANDING REGION OF IRELAND

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Denis & Joan’s immaculate home. Kinsale is a vibrant town located on a beautiful harbour and we enjoyed Charles Fort and James Fort, and many gourmet meals, our favourites The Fish Market in Blue Haven, Bruno’s for pizza and Dino’s for fish & chips. We explored the area with our two boys who are aged 5 and 8, and loved nearby Fota Wildlife, Cobh & The Titanic Museum, Clonakilty and the model railway village, and the spectacular Inchydoney Beach. We also enjoyed nearby Cork city, which is a great compact city. We were particularly fortunate to have such a comfortable, warm, spacious home overlooking a beautiful large garden that ensured we really enjoyed our holiday despite some rainy days. We had a really lovely exchange in Denis and Joan's beautiful home in Kinsale. The organisation of the exchange was seamless. Their spotless, organised home and beautiful garden was most comfortable and relaxing. Kinsale is a very cosmopolitan town with great history, walks and delicious restaurants. It is a great base for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way.

If your Ireland trip planning includes visiting portions of the "Wild Atlantic Way," Kinsale is a "must see" harbor town! Denis and Joan's Waterlands house is lovely and an ideal place to call "home!"

We were so excited to spend time in such a special environment. From our beautiful, spacious home. we could walk to the harbor town of Kinsale, And walk we did! It was glorious. We were blessed with perfect weather and surrounded with flowers blooming all around. Kinsale is a destination for many visitors and has much to offer. We ate at great restaurants. Dino's had the best fish and chips that we found in our travels. And Kitty O'Se's pub was the pub we visited every day if we were not off exploring the area. Everyone was helpful and kind. County Cork is lovely and it holds special memories for me.. Having lived in Upper Aghada, County Cork, we were able to find the house I lived in years ago. On days we did not walk into Kinsale, we traveled the county side. We went to Drombeg Circle (standing stones), Baltimore, Cork City and took the train from Cork to spend time in Dublin. We were never bored and loved our three week Irish home. My husband says "Location, Location, Location." And Kinsale has it all. We recommend this home to anyone wanting or needing an Irish adventure.

Thanks very much Denis and Joan, we felt very comfortable and relaxed in your lovely, spacious home. Kinsale is a beautiful location. We enjoyed the wonderful walks in Kinsale and the surrounding coastline, spectacular. And of course, we enjoyed Kinsale's wonderful restaurants and bars. We started the vacation with a 3 day stay in Dublin. We enjoyed the city atmosphere, the Zoo, Viking Splash tour, the pubs, music and the Irish friendliness. Then we drove to Kinsale and stayed at Joans and Denises lovely house for two weeks. The house is a country house with a lot of space and very comfortable, good for children, a beautiful garden, quiet surrounding and only 10 minutes walk from Kinsale. Kinsale is a lovely small town with colourful houses, small narrow streets, long history giving its mark to people and city, beautifully situated by the sea. We hired bikes and walked a lot. Must do's are scenic walks or biking in Kinsale, Charles Fort, Sandy Cove, driving the Atlantic Route and the country side. Pubs recommended are Bulmans, Jim Edwards, Pink Elefant and many others. We drove the Atlantic Route a few times and visited Clonakilty, Cortmacsherry, Tralee, Cork and the beaches in Inchydone and Ballinspittle. We liked all of them. We had a fantastic 2 weeks vacation!

It was our first time in Ireland and we have found this country wonderful! Your location is very convenient for visiting the Wild South west coast and, every day,, we discovered gorgeous scenicdrive. It was nice to exchange by email with you to know the"adventures of the day" and to share a few pictures.
