Beskrivelse av vårt nabolag og området rundt
Our home is located in a cozy, quiet condo community of Chandler's Cove in Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada. Our back deck looks out on a green belt where you can see and hear a wide variety of birds including, pheasants, cardinals, doves, flickers, chickadees and many more. The odd deer, fox and hares also wander through from time to time. We also have a lovely set of patio furniture and a new BBQ on the deck.
The very best part of living in Chester is being able to walk to everything. Pubs, cafes, art galleries, the Chester Playhouse, the harbour, groceries, drug store and golf course are all within a 5 to 15 minute stroll. If you do want to get out for a drive, there are many other amazing, quaint and picturesque villages and towns along the South Shore within a 30 minute drive. Peggy's Cove, Hubbards, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg will offer you access to more wonderful ocean views, sandy beaches, top notch restaurants, pubs and shopping.
If you want to drive an extra 20 minutes and desire a city experience, Halifax (Nova Scotia's capital) will satisfy your every need. Halifax boasts more pubs per capita than any other Canadian city. There is fine dining available at varying price points and entertainment ranging from a crusty old fiddle player spinning some Gaelic tunes at a pub to excellent theatre performances on stage at The Neptune Theatre and everything in-between. If you are a lover of history, Halifax has a long list of places you will want to visit. The Citadel, located in the heart of the city was built around the founding of Halifax by the British in 1749. The Maritime Museum of The Atlantic is an excellent resource for history buffs. It boasts several permanent exhibits including a wonderful Titanic Exposition, a detailed exhibit about The Halifax Explosion (the largest human-made explosion before Hiroshima) and an integrated Canada wide museum project about the Franklin Expedition.
If you are a wine afficionado, Nova Scotia has numerous vineyards scattered throughout the province. In 2012, Nova Scotian vineyards were granted and launched "Tidal Bay"; the first wine appellation for Nova Scotia and one-of-a-kind for North America. Tidal Bay is a racy aromatic white wine that displays the characteristics of our cool climate region and soils. All Tidal Bay wines must follow the same set of standards and yet each vineyard creates its own subtle signature taste. Tidal Bay wines pair flawlessly with the local seafood we are known for. Trust me, I have extensive experience in both the seafood and the wine. You will not be disappointed.

Våre tips til steder å gå og ting å gjøre mens du bor i vårt hjem
Besides a walk around the beautiful Village of Chester, there is an extensive bike trail nearby. Peggy’s Cove, the City of Halifax, the historic Town of Lunenburg, and the beautiful vineyards in the Annapolis Valley are all less than an hour’s drive.
