Modern, comfortable home in Darwin

We felt very much at home & relaxed.
This was our first simultaneous exchange and we couldn't fault our welcome and the comfort of Mike & Heather's seaside home. Such a beautiful area of Australia to explore from the beautiful sandy beaches to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Breakfast was always out on the veranda decking where you felt you were among the treetops. So many beautiful birds in the area and quite a few came to say hello. Thank you once again Mike & Heather for allowing us this experience.

Beskrivelse av hjemmet vi tilbyr å bytte bort

Our home was built in the 1960's. We have renovated with a new kitchen and bathroom, all appliances and a large deck for BBQs and general outdoor living. The ground floor is a self sufficient apartment which we could use for non-simultaneous exchanges. It is air conditioned, has wifi and a pool as well as a huge yard which is visited by many Australian native birds.

We live in a busy, vibrant neighbourhood on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, 10 minutes walk to the beach with restaurants, cafes, bars within walking distance. There are several farmers/craft markets in the area. Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is a 30 min drive (or bus trip) from our home. We are central to the Sunny Coast, between Maroochydore & Mooloolaba, 20 mins from Noosa & the same distance to Caloundra, approx 1 hour from Brisbane, the Queensland capitol. Day tours are available to heritage listed Fraser Island. The Sunshine Coast is a holiday destination for people from all over the world. Naturally, there are lots of water sports, i.e. fishing, diving and it is a mecca for surfers. The beach is white sand and is fully patrolled by surf life savers. A still water beach is a short drive or a long walk away.

Våre tips til steder å gå og ting å gjøre mens du bor i vårt hjem

Walk to beach, restaurants, cafes & bars. You can go for walks along the beaches or just sit, take a coffee break, and watch the surfers. We often see dolphins over the winter months & from August to October, whales can be seen on their annual migration. Eat seafood straight off the trawler. The café at our local Surf Club has fantastic views, serves great coffee & barista, Tom will make you very welcome. There is also a lovely hinterland area with villages, waterfalls, views and wildlife about 20 min drive away.

. We have a son in Sydney so we are also interested in exchanges in that city, particularly Manly, Freshwater areas. Children are welcome but please be aware that we have an internal staircase - not good for toddlers!
