We are a friendly couple, recently retired and enjoy socialising with friends; especially over good food and a nice glass of wine.
I like to keep fit and enjoy walking and running in the glorious lanes that surround us. Nigel enjoys photography and house renovation.
As we are going to have some more free time, we thought that we'd like to do a bit of travelling and are excited at the thought of trying a home-exchange.
We will probably travel with another couple (friends), who are a similar age so would need 2 double bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.

Beskrivelse av hjemmet vi tilbyr å bytte bort
Large Detached House sitting in 33 acres of rural bliss, in an area classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
Situated midway between Taunton and Exeter in an Area which has been classified as an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), our comfortable home is set in over 30 acres of glorious countryside. With easy access to Taunton, Exeter, Bath, Bristol and London it provides the perfect base for exploring.
As well as 3 double bedrooms (2 with en-suite shower rooms), which all have king-size beds, there is a large sitting-room, fantastic custom-built kitchen and wonderful hand-made oak conservatory; all of which have folding doors that open on to a large deck enabling you to enjoy the view over the surrounding countryside, as well as a dining-room and a library area.
There is a large garden with plenty of shrubs and 2 large natural ponds. As the house was previously a mill, there is also a small river running alongside the garden. Please note that the ponds and river are unfenced and we regret, therefore, that the house is not suitable for young children.
We are surrounded by a network of footpaths which are perfect for those who enjoy walking, cycling or horse-riding. Pheasants, deer, badgers and buzzards are all common sights as you wander down the lanes.
Within a 5-mile radius, you can try carp-fishing, horse-riding, or kart-racing (the kart track is associated with Formula One Champion Nigel Mansell). You can also take flying lessons, do a skydive or try a parachute jump at Dunkeswell aerodrome.
There is also a small museum at Dunkeswell which is well worth a visit and a craft centre where you can learn almost anything from artisan baking to willow basket making!
A little further afield you can try Clay-Pigeon shooting in Wellington (associated with Ed Ling who won a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics) or play a few rounds of Golf at one of the excellent courses at Taunton or Tiverton.
There are also numerous National Trust properties to visit in the vicinity as well as many excellent pubs where you can enjoy a delicious meal. It's worth noting that the National Trust operate a reciprocal arrangement with 14 countries (such as Italy, Canada, etc) allowing their members of similar Heritage organisations to visit English National Trust properties for free.
From Sept to November is Carnival season in Somerset. This is an ancient tradition which stretches back as far as the 1600's.
The floats can be huge and covered in hundreds of light bulbs. There is no fee to watch but donations to charity are invited.
We are:
25 minutes from Honiton, famous for lace-making and antiques shops.
35 minutes from the Cathedral City of Exeter which has great shopping, museums and galleries.
Under 1 hour by train from Taunton to Bath where you can visit the historic Roman Baths or simply enjoy some wonderful shopping.
Approx 2.5 hours by train to London
We’re also less than an hour’s drive from many coastal towns such as Lyme Regis and Sidmouth which are perfect for fossil-hunting as they form part of the Jurassic Coast.
Lyme Regis is beautiful and has featured in several films, including The French Lieutenant’s Woman. You can re-enact Meryl Streep’s role by walking along the harbour (known as the Cobb), before heading for a meal at Hix Oyster & Fish House which enjoys stunning panoramic views.
Sidmouth is also worth a visit with it’s Regency history, clean beaches and friendly shops; not forgetting the Donkey Sanctuary where you can meet hundreds of donkeys and enjoy a traditional Devon Cream Tea.
So, whatever you like to do our home is ideal!
